Is this too tight of a fold? Only 50 more chips but it's hard for me to tell post flop if my A is ahead a not, assuming if I even hit it.

fold it, out of position with one of the worst offsuit aces, having to call of another 50 chips, it's a very standard fold.

they say AQ no good, so i'd assume A7 is shit,

People would suggest folding AQ out of the blinds sometimes because it's sort of a reverse implied odds situation. That is, when you have the best hand, you won't get paid off, and if you make your hand but it is second best, you're not really gonna get away from it. I think that's what PattyR was getting to.
