I'm still not sure what these small bets mean. At the time I didn't think he had hit the flop. The bet of 60 on the bet made me think that I was behind but I still called because of the great odds.

Usually they mean your opponent is a drooler - though that doesn't tell us exactly what kind of drooler and that's the important part.

Most often when I see this kind of line it's either a weak made hand like K9 / JT or a horrible semibluff with something like AJ / A8 etc. Sometimes it's a slowplay with a set or two pair too.

That said, even though it's a small bet I think it's fine just to dump the hand. It's early in the game and the pot is hardly big enough to bother competing for with such a marginal hand. Fold, make a note that the villain likes to take dinky lines and see if someone else chases him down in a later hand so you can see what he's doing it with.

fold flop. when we called out of the BB, were calling just to 'set mine'. so when we miss, we can't get stubborn, just because we don't believe him. There are two overcards, and a few draws, if we call a small bet on the flop, and say an 8 hits, can we call anohter small bet on the turn?

So yeah, what im getting at is this. You should have a plan as to how or why you are playing a hand. To what purpose are you calling this bet, what are you trying to achieve. If it was me, my thinking would be, ok only one opponant, getting very decent odds to call, with huge implied odds, im going to call this bet to see the flop and try to hit a set. If i miss, theres no, 'oh, i dont believe him, im going to call one street' then, 'oh the turn bet is small, he must be bluffing' it's just really kind of spewy.

^^^ what they said. Sure, he could easily be bluffing you, but what did it cost you? 40 chips? Let him have it and save the money you would lose for those times he has KT and is just trying to get anything he can out of you.

Also, I think its good to realize that on a flop like that, you hand can only get worse. If a Q, J, A, or heart falls, your hand is that much more owned.
