Think I remember posting/reading a hand similar to this, not sure where it is though. Anyway, I know this looks gross but I wonder if it's closer than it really is. Initial raiser is reasonable thus far, 18/15 stats but don't know if he is a real winner or not - he's only playing on one of my tables. SB is sitting at each of my tables, seems reg-ish thus far.

PokerStars - $3+$0.40|200/400 NL (9 max) - Holdem - 6 players
Hand converted by PokerTracker 3

BTN: 4,615.00
SB: 1,160.00
Hero (BB): 1,705.00
UTG: 1,965.00
MP: 1,600.00
CO: 2,455.00

BTN posts ante 25.00, SB posts ante 25.00, Hero posts ante 25.00, UTG posts ante 25.00, MP posts ante 25.00, CO posts ante 25.00, SB posts SB 200.00, Hero posts BB 400.00

Pre Flop: (750.00) Hero has 2:club: 9:spade:

fold, MP raises to 1,575.00 and is all-in, fold, fold, SB calls 935.00 and is all-in, Hero ???

This isn't one of those times where we can make the call. We're getting decent odds, but we are pretty much crippled if we call and lose (which is going to happen a LOT). We have 1300 left over after we fold this, it's enough to do some damage in the next orbit somehow. If we had like 7k in chips, and losing the extra $ didn't matter, then we might be able to justify it (Probably not though).

What if we had ~t1200 before posting? Or if our hand was 98s or something not entirely garbage?

this is a good question and I am interested in what Wizz has to say on this cause I use to never call this but have been finding myself calling it more lately and I am curious of what the play here really is so great discussion coming I hope.

Yeah I agree, it's a trickier spot because obviously we never have the best hand here, but if we fold most of the time we're pretty much screwed because we have ~0% fold equity, so is it worth taking the risk? The reward would definitely be pretty great, but it's hard to know where to draw the line.

Yeah well in that situation i'd definitely be calling. After posting we only have 2BB's and are in the SB. I'd much rather take my 20-30% equity to the flop here than fold. Also 98s is considerably better than 92off for obvious reasons, so it's pretty much the perfect type of hand to be calling with (we are rarely dominated, and it hits so many flops).

If we had 98s in the first example, i'm probably still folding as we have a tiny bit of time to do something, it wouldn't be a horrible call, though considering we are in the SB next hand, so i'd consider making the call in this case too.

Hm, what if MP were the only villain pushing, we have the same cards? Still a fold I would guess?

Yeah well we'd likely be getting less odds to make the call and depends how wide you think villain is capable of shoving.

I think it's a call vs. one player. You have antes in effect and have to worry about M instead which would leave you if you fold >2M. Since most of the hands you will be against won't be PP's then you most likely have at least two live cards.
