So I've dabbled a bit in stud, but mostly cash games and enjoy it. This is actually the first time I had played HI/LO but I have had great results in other hi/lo games and the level of play in this particular tournament was horrific so I am pretty adamant that I had a huge edge over the general field. For the most part I feel like I played really well, especially in the earlier levels, but started to run bad when bring ins were increased, having to fold like 4th street a few times to awful runouts with hands that had great potential.

The hand has plenty of potential for stud hi/lo with flush draws, straight draws and low draws, having said that it isn't really ideal because 2 spades are already dead as well as a couple of my straight outs, but I felt I could still defend here.

The run out gives me a pretty decent hand with a flush plus made low and I was sort of thinking that even though villain clearly has the same type of hand that I should probably be able to win half the pot often enough to show profit in calling. Is this just a cooler run out or should I have realized that villain is going to have better flushes and better lows quite often here and given it is a fixed limit game should I call anyway because of the huge odds you are getting?

I'm not a specialist in Stud Hi/Lo but I like to play that game.

If I read this correctly you had a low 23456 and a Q high flush. If you lost both then that's a cooler. What did he have Ad 2d?

Yeah pretty much he had that and scooped me.

just after I posted the hand I realized that it is probably a pretty clear cooler. I think it's just that during the game I actually felt that he would be showing up with the bigger flush alot so when I discovered that both my flush and low were no good I wondered if I had overplayed it given my inexperience. But that's just being results orientated.

Thanks for commentating on the hand btw

Preflop is a definite defend, this is a beautiful stud hi low starting hand!

You played the hand well on each street and you should usually win the high and you also have an emergency low.

Being that it is a multiway pot, you are generally going to profit by winning half the pot in a spot like this.
