$.25 NL HE: was my preflop call wrong in this spot?

ok so im not posting this cause it is a bad beat, thats why i posted the whole hand, Im looking for feed back on how i played the hand as a whole, the resullt is obv a bad beat...the reason i have questions is becuase i thought i was making the call with the right pot odds, and after the hand was over the player went on to tell me that my pre flop call was "questionable at best" now im new to incorporating the math into my desciscions, so im def capable of being wrong in my caculations, but on str8 pot odds, was I or was i not getting 4 to one on the call of 300 more chips? I had a short stack and a PP over seven, so i flat called hoping to hit a set.

with "setmining" you need at least 12 to 1 implied odds.. i prefer 15 to 1... even higher is better.. and the more players in the pot the better your chances of getting paid..

so in short i was wrong to call 300 more to play the pot according to the math.
so was it a terrible play? as I said im noew to the math of it, before i even considered the math my first thought was that i could call for 300 more and be able to walk a way from a re raise of the players left to act if it happend or walk away if i missed or did not like the flop.

Someone else can get more specific but for you to call 400 your only getting 2.5-1 on a call and as it turned out your preflop odds to win the hand were 4-1 underdog so pot odss were not there.
