When everyone checks the flop I would be tempted to put in a tester bet on the turn to try and take it down. The problem you have is that hero has no read on BB so it is just as likely to be T2, 6x or total air. Call or fold is simply a guess here imo so there's no right or wrong answer.

I think it was bad call , because is very difficult the villain bluff river with so many people in the pot and with this board , and the value of 10bbs was still high , so it was kind apparent that he had hit this straight

mathematical odds
odds someone having a six in his pocket cards
there are 8 unknown cards (4 players * 2 pocket cards). Seeing 5 cards on the river and 2 cards of your own the chance to hit are
for the first one 4/45.(roughly 10 %)
for the 2nd one 4/44*0,9 (roughly 9 %)
...
Besides there are 3 other sets higher then yours and another str8 combination is possible.
Therfore the odds are something like 4:1 against you.

bet river yourself and possibly fold to a raise

as played you have to call it off, people overvalue alot of hands here that are way worse than trip 4s, but yes, you will be up against 6x a decent amount.

Pre: Mp2 close the action. Well you can technically call oop 44, but i do not like it in general. What are you goin to do when mp2 limp/raise preflop?
I assume it is early stage and chips are valuable, little edge overall. Imo
As played, hero on river bet/fold or check/call. Check/fold is terrible- that case you should not call preflop with 44. Imo

He could defo try to steal the pot if everyone checks on the flop, turn and river. But because its a big % of your stack and 5 people in the pot someone can easily have a 6. And the sizing he makes it on the river i think you should fold. If he's trying to steal he could also make it smaller and get folds from some pairs. Unless you have good reads on villian and think he will try to steal the pot here almost everytime.

I think the call pre is fine. You only have to call 60 to try and hit a set. If you do, you can crack big hands and double your stack. Not a big diference for your stack if you lose 60 trying to flop a set and win a big pot or save the 60 here.
