Late position blinds 250/500 -
Me: 35K chips
SB: 13k Chips

I make it 1500 with Pocket 9s.. SB jams. Average Chip Stack - 24K

What would you do?

I called, ran into AK, rivered a Q for 10-A straight.

Did you have any info on the player? Was he tight or loose?
In any case it was a good call if you ask me, you lost like 1/3 of your stack, but had good odds against any 2 cards. He just got lucky to hit something.
I'd call in a heartbeat

It is what it is, but I prefer the 2-2.5xRaise rather than a 3x

Good deal. I'm on Bovada, multi-tabling.. So with not much attention towards the table/the anonymous player software, low info on the player.

What is the advantage of the over call? If the best case scenario is a flip you would need to be getting better than 2/1 on a call right?

generally, I assume an unknown player is raising me for value until I have reason to believe otherwise.

so, if I don't know this guy, I ask myself how do I feel against a typical player's value 3-bet range?

with 99 I'll say he will almost never have a smaller pair
It will usually be 2 overcards
It will often be a bigger pair
It will occasionally be a wacky bluff or just 1 over

let's say 15% of the time he has a smaller pair (80% to win) = 12% equity
50% of the time you are facing 2 overs (50% to win) = 25% equity
30% of the time you are facing a bigger pocket pair (20% to win) = 6% equity
5% of the time it's some wacky hand with 1 overcard (70% to win) =3.5% equity

so your equity against this random player's range would be roughly 46.5%

without great pot odds, I'm thinking fold here. I like to avoid flips because
#1 I think I'm better than most of my opponents (I'm not awesome, I just play small stakes)
#2 you're only hoping to flip, you could be crushed
#3 Your stack size doesn't need a double up or a flip right now.
#4 There is a high likelihood you'll need to flip later and when that time comes I'd rather be holding the AK when I call the all in and holding 99 when I'm the one who shoves.

I would fold, ther raise is really big, you can easily get away from this and wait for a better situation. However, since you have so many more chips, you can afford to lose this hand, so totally up to you.

There are many opinions - you can call or fold etc. Probably I fold 99 to his all in here. I'm not sure call with 99 for about 1/3 stack. But it also depends if he is tight or loose. If he is loose, call makes a sense. I prefer here at least JJ but it doesn't matter here.
As you played ... it also seems good. It isn't error. You have still over 40bb, you are still in game. Take care :)

Call, unless he is a very very tight player. He should be shoving plenty of hands that are worse than 99.

i think it depens on what your goal is. if your goal was to win the tournament it definetely was a good call. but when you just wanted to reach money and then slowly build on your stack then i rather think calling 3bet with 99 is a gamble, most of the time you'll face a coinflip..

In this situation your stack was 3x bigger, that's ok with call. If you stack were smaller, about 17k, then you should to fold.

I prefer the fold, just because I can find better spots on my terms.
