Getting 1.5:1 on calling the utg villans shove I only needed 40% equity and I was getting at least that.

Questions

What is blind thinking with overshoving with no fold equity?

When fishy villans like this open over shove the pot do most of you see extreme weakness or strength? I saw weakness thinking it was also possible a small % of the time that not only was my straight draw there and my Q live, but maybe even my 8 was live as well.

What would have been your decision? Fold, call, or raise to shut out blind?

With my hand should I even be making blind fold or actually getting blind to shove so I can call off getting extremely good odds on that call as well?

All of this of course was me realizing that I would still have a stk well above avg. if I lost and then one of the chip leaders if I won.

I'm not a huge equity guy, but i highly doubt we have 40% equity here...

without reads, whats a guy overshoving the flop with? seems to me he probably has a pair and a draw, two pair, top pair hands, or he was slowplaying a big pair pre, all of those hands make sense, so i punched in what i think his range of overshoving would be on this flop, i also we have to assume some of our 'outs' only give us half the pot, and he may have blockers to our straight too.. anyways it turns out to around 37% equity. but that didnt take into account that he probably has blockers, so it's probably less in reality.

I'm actually interested to see what others think about this hand... i don't normally use poker stove to work out things.. hopefully someone can proove me wrong :D

But yeah, im folding this, because im a useless MTT player, but also i fail to see that were getting decent odds with a decent chance of winning.

I'm more and more realizing that this call was not spewy especially considering my stk would be well above avg. even if I lost.

with those stove numbers I'm trying to figure out why so many people say fold. Can someone educate me?

Ill punch in the range i think are suitable, Are people on 2 + 2 saying this is a fold too? I'm not really sure about it still, id like to see some feedback by better players than i. But i still fail to see how we get 40% equity, and how calling with these terrible odds can be good with an unmade hand. we have to be behind here a majority of the time.

anyways heres a screenie of a quick range i gave the guy... Im not sure if hes going to call with the 95 off type hands though, so i can probably get rid of those, ill try again after lunch, when i have time to sit down and look at it..

Because I played with this villan for 2 hours I got a good idea of how he played. First off I will dismiss TT+ only because he would almost without question be 4 bet shipping as well as AK. If he had set's on the flop he would almost without question check/raise vs. open ship. So I dismissed these hands from his range. I also had a hard time putting him on any 2 pr hands because even though he was a limptard 44/0 HUD he very unlikely would limp call with 97 or 96. This leaves an educated guess of his range being what I inputed in to stove.

I do want to say that I did completely understand it was somewhat of a spewy call at the time, but like I said I would still have been above avg. in chips if I called and lost and if I won I would be up there with chip leaders.
