Seat 8: raftingboot folded before Flop (didn't bet)
Seat 9: LaJess showed [7d 7c] and won (1980) with two pair, Sevens and Deuces

From Lajess's play up til now he seemed aggressive nd I believed there was a chance he was just firing at the pot on the turn with 2 random overcards, and if he does have a pair I still have some chance to hit an ace or king on the river.
Do you think my call on the turn is too loose?

MP2: 13,470 (449 bb)
MP3: 4,830 (161 bb)
CO: 5,000 (166.7 bb)

Pre-Flop: Hero is MP1 with A K
2 folds, Hero raises to 135, MP2 calls 135, MP3 folds, CO calls 135, 3 folds

Flop: (450) 2 39 (3 players)
Hero bets 225, MP2 folds, CO calls 225

Turn: (900) 2 (2 players)
Hero checks, CO bets 540, Hero calls 540

River: (1,980) J (2 players)
Hero checks

Convert your hands & don't show the results.

Raise to 90-100 preflop, 135 is excessive and just bloats the pot OOP.

I think check/calling the turn is about the worst line you can take. AK high does have some showdown value, but I'd rather just check/fold or check/raise than try to bluff catch over 2 streets OOP. Villain has random floats, or 44-88 so often here, and I think a check/raise and barreling the river scare cards can remove him from a lot of his range.

After watching this guy's game after this hand he was a combination of a calling station and a maniac.
Check raising would've worked out terribly as I think there was very little chance of him ever folding even on the river.
Against some players I can see there would be some merit to it though.

I think you played the turn really badly. If your going to call on the turn with ak high then your better off betting to try and get him to fold. If he raises then get out.

As it happened you checked it(which is probly what i would of done)

Then you called a 540 bet. (I think you should fold here, You effictively give this hand up when you check it)

The only reason you should call that 540 bet is if you intend to bluff the river i think. But seeing as you intended to check if you missed to try and get a showdown i think you played it badly.

If he goes to showdown too easily (calling station), then we shouldn't c-bet this flop & we should at least check/fold the turn. Include those reads in your opening post.

Raise less preflop. Check/fold is by far the best play on the turn followed by a 2nd barrel. You are not getting odds to play fit or fold on the river and you can't call a river bet without a very good read.

I dont like the call on the turn. He is betting close to pot and there are not that many draws on the flop. Also raise less pre with your whole range

I think that was a good pre-flop raise. Not giving too much implied odds.
My play? Bet on the turn for another 3/4 of the pot, if he flat calls is either having a medium pocket pair or slowplaying a monster.
If an overcard like the J lands on the river , I feel you should fire one more time to make him fold his 44-88. At least you will get a free showdown unless he bets on the river which indicates a monster hand.
Well, that longball play is more appropiate if you dealing with a solid player. If you feel he is a calling station or a maniac, just give up on the turn.

Check call on the blank turn is the quickest way you will lose your bankroll. Fold at that spot.
