I'm losing track of this thread, we're debating whether we can shove 16BB's from MP with mid pairs?

Keep in mind that calling ranges change drastically with villains when they have to call an all in shove, usually the ranges are fairly tightish. You still might get calls from KQ and such though. Either way, we're risking a ton of equity to pick up the blinds, which essentially adds very little. When we are called, we're usually flipping v overs, way behind vs overpairs, and sometimes we may be way ahead vs low Ax hands, and underpairs, but that's in the minority.

Ben- 88 is probably an OK open, we still have the same issues we do with 6's, but we see a few less overcards with 8's. However fact still remains, these guys have such a horrible late game, we can actually afford to just play super tight in these spots and then pick up tons of equity later on in the tournament with a solid under 12bb push/fold game, or by just waiting for dumb people to boost our equity for us by knocking each other out.

If this was a $16 Tourney, i'd be opening 8's, as picking up small amounts of equity is way more important (rarely if ever see a super loose BB like that either, most of them are tight). Here in a $1.50 game, we should be able to afford to pass up on slightly profitable spots in favour of finding better ones.
