What was your read on this opponent? W/O any details on what you were doing here and why, all I can say is that you gave every draw in the house a chance to stack you with your passive play.

He plays pots in position, and seems to be a strong postflop player.
My read was High cards of some sort.

Also I believed he would try to take the pot away from me if I checked to him.

The only way you can take the passive line that you took is if you believe that villain can ONLY have AA, 66, 55, AK here. On the flop there is a FD and a ST8 draw, you need to protect your hand. A check/raise on this flop is OK ONLY IF you think that villain won't call a c-bet of 5500. IMHO after his donk bet here on the flop, with the pot >50% of your stack, you should have raised instead of calling. And to make villain have incorrect odds to play his FD the check/raise should have been for half+ your remaining stack size thus making it super easy to shove on the turn, say 9000.

I don't really mind this line if villain is a spew-tard, but I'd probably just c-bet the flop. Its not super dry, and it gives villain the opportunity to float/bluff raise us. But with a read that villain likes to bet when checked to, this is fine.

Just shove the turn instead of raising for all but 3.5K of your stack. No real reason to leave that 3.5k behind.

What c9 said, pretty much - personally I just lead the flop with this as well because there aren't a lot of hands we can sell as being check-call worthy that the villain will still continue betting against on later streets and if scare cards hit (another heart, for example) he might shut down altogether.

So I'd just lead and hope the villain raises - it actually disguises our hand a lot better. If you've got a specific read on this villain then go with it though I agree, when we're check-raising the turn we may as well just get it all in.

Tbh i think ur ahead at that limit i can put villain on anything from a lower set to a overpair to two pair. KQ is possible tho farfetched im just not convinced he has the flush there and tbh there are alot of hands he can push with on that river that your ahead so I think its a call where 9/10 ur going to fistpump otherwise just marvel at the way a donk plays ;)
