For me it is not big deal. I don't like freerolls with small prize-pool and large number of registered players.

They did take away the SN + freerolls which were worth $1 Million four times a year. But also gave 4 "new" $ 1 million games open to everyone. That could be the info that you read. Unless there is new info I am unaware of.

thats what i tought too, i asked him about that but i think now its clear with that post

I think they should not remove something like the privilege but rather add many freerolls to promote and attract more players.
I agree; they should keep the Privilege Freerolls and add other ones.

A 1 million prize pool will attract a mega load of fish but once the illusion has passed so are the fish gone.

The privledge freerolls encourage people to make deposits whereas the million dollar freerolls do not.
If players do not deposit there is no money to pay the rake or for profit to go to other players.
Dropping these will logically come back to bite them in the ass but how they chose to promote is their business. I deposit $10 a month to play these and if there is no added incentive to deposit I won't.
As far as the $1million rolls with up to 50.000 peeps I did not bother to play in the last one and won't play in the next one either.

Well at least all the fat cat net withdrawing HUD using players can't say that poker stars is only putting the squeeze on the high raking players.
They are removing approximately $1.5million a year that helps the weaker rec players extend their playing time and keep being net depositors and most of this goes into the pool to fund the net withdrawlers.
Their marketers have yet to learn the simple premise of never bite the hand that feeds you.

Common cents kick off holds a record of 250 000 people playing it as a biggest online tourney ever - so your estimation of 350 000 playing it is a bit too much i believe.
Maybe around 250k people will play those freerolls which is 4$ buy-in.

Also, don't forget that there will be a lot of sitt-outers which narrows the field for at least 10-15%.

PS. Those 100k tourneys seem nice - but if you made 0.50$/day by playing 3 of those - just imagine how much profit you could have if you played 0.10/0.25/0.50$ tourneys instead where players are pretty much also as bad as there.

PPS. Someone also stated this - one good run in these 1million freerolls and you could end up with a nice 200/300$ or maybe 1/2k profit.

For me, it is a good decision from pokerstars

If you try to look at this from Poker Stars point replacing these with 4 $1million freerolls, if they do this which is unlikely, provides very little marketing value in terms of improving depositing players and will definitely result in money coming out of the system.
What are they getting for their $4 per player besides some press that may or may not attract some depositing players but will likely only attract a bunch of freeloaders, I mean freerollers. :)

I will have to disagree with this. They are having those Free $1 million games. It will put more money in the system. $4 million of it. Of course the top players that cash will be cashing out some or all of what they won. But there will be plenty of the smaller cashes that will get to stay on the site and get moved around from player to player. I expect to see commercial after commercial advertising each time one of these $1 Million freerolls take place. Yes they will get a bunch of players that will just be freeloaders. But most depositing players start out that way.

I would bet allot of the players who make it into the money will eventually make a deposit thinking I got so close in this one so why not give it another shot with real money.

I do play them PLUS the 100K freerolls.

In fact I usually play the real money tourneys once I get started in a 100K freeroll.

So if they get rid of the 100K I may play a lot less real money ones.

was this ^ a misprint? Because that'd be a $20 entry value.

Yup I missed a 0. The last one, if I remember correctly, which I may not, was capped at 500,000 and they got around 260K. I think it was a 1 cent buyin but there were a lot of free tickets.

These were fantastic value for us minnows; the most I ever won was $4.00 for I think 36th but I must have cashed over 50% of the time. In all that time I think I rebought 3 times, twice by accident, so it was one Hell of a tournament, and you could also multitask, watch TV etc because it was free money.

I have a feeling this site is going to start going downhill fast with that and the other changes.

PokerStars will remove the Privilege Freerolls

For me, it is the end of an era.

I could usually play 3 of these per day and make an average of $0.50/day.

If I play 300 days/year then that's $150 in my account.

Also I was using that money to play other MTT's at the same time I played those freerolls.

I hope they will replace them with something even better but that remains to be seen.

Removing these is a bad idea. I would make a $10 monthly deposit even though I build up a decent bankroll (for the stakes I play), and I played other games so I wasn't just a "freeroller", but I can't see any enticement to making a deposit now, as a matter of fact I just cashed out last night, except for about $2 so I wouldn't get bored and try higher stakes.
Pokerstars has actually got me looking at other sites now and I started 888 last night (cashed in 5 of the 6 tickets they gave me and already have $12 without depositing).

I really think they should step back and reconsider these new changes, there's nothing positive about them for players like me and I've been on there a looonnnggg time. I still remember the good old days when I was able to sell a million play money chip at $25 a pop when I first started, back when the biggest game was a 9 player sit and go for 25,000 play chips.

depends where you live. i live in the US poker stars and full tilt they won't let US players play for cash. full tilt and poker stars is alright. but i do enjoy American's card room to play poker. they have a lot 10 dollar free rolls on there site right now they are playing PLO.

Chromestar freeroll was always there........ removing privilege freerolls certainly makes alot of players now feel under privileged. .....

While this is true ... it use to be $5000 ... they upped it to $10 000 but took away other VIP Freerolls from the higher levels.

And the lower levels too. The bronzestar 10FPP $250 (which dropped from $500) and the 20FPP $500 (dropped from $1000) are also gone now.
I've already cashed out so I'll just play the Chromestar and use the 7 or 8 weekly tickets I still have and that might be it for me with pokerstars until I see something worthwhile.
I'll spend the next while looking over other sites. So far 888 is pretty good, already up to $20 since yesterday without making a deposit.

Interesting .. I never notice that as I don't play them but it further shows how full of BS Amaya is .... I see there is a bronze star weekly $2500 for 25 star coins that is also running tomorrow.

10 star coins are worth 10 cents. How many players do these games usually get ? I assume it must be at least 3000 ? That would be $300 worth of coins into a $250 game. I wonder if the prize pool will grow if the amount of coins are greater than the value of the game.
