I think I've accidentally posted this in a wrong forum. This is my first post, so I'm not even sure I'm doing it the right way. Hello everyone.
Anyways, I have a little rant about the Spin and Gos. So I played some micro stakes poker a couple of days ago and the cash games weren't generally going my way because people are so freaking tight or/and can't fold a top pair even if you put a gun to their head and I guess I get bored/trapped too often so I just punt my stack. Plus I'm easily getting tilted if a bad beat happens, and that's, as we all know, a quite frequent feat at Pokerstars. And the micro stakes tournaments feel like a giant slot machine, people are just randomly shoving with K6 off for 2BBs 60BBs deep and getting a double up.
So I played some 0.25$ spin and gos and I noticed that I was decent at them, I think I won nearly 50%. After a quick calculation, I realized that I need to win roughly 37-38% to be even/slightly profitable. So yesterday my friend sent me 14.5$ and I decided to only play 1 dollar spin and gos and write down every result. I won 39 and lost 47, for a win rate a little bit more than 45%. I went up from 14.5$ to 26.5$ and I was quite happy.
And ofc today I kept playing, and I hit a 11 game losing streak, including a guy sucking out on me 4 times in a row when I had roughly 15:1 chip lead. It was getting ridiculous, I couldn't win no matter what I was doing. I'm sure that all of you have had rough losing streaks and bad beats, so yall can relate, but the tilting thing was that players were jamming preflop from any position with total BS cards. Like how is it profitable to jam with Q2 off for 1BB? And of course, I found myself in a shitload of tough spots. Should I call with A5? QJ? 44? and similar, while knowing that my opponents are basically just gambling.
Also, my calling range has to be wider because even at the beginning, we are just 25BB deep. The post flop play comes down to "do I have a top pair? If yes than bet if no then fold". And every time I called with let's say A5, they either had me dominated or they sucked out. Don't get me wrong, I also sucked out a couple of times, buy that makes it even worse; this game feels like a bunch of suckouts in a giant slot machine.
And in the end, I was so tired and tilted from the bad beats that I started playing like shit. I was just hoping to hit a flop, I had some coolers, I could've avoided some loses and so on. My stack plummeted down to 10$ and I tried 2 dollar spin and gos. And every time the prize would be only x2-which is also an annoying part of the game. Sometimes you have streaks of x2 games and that's kinda deflating. Maybe they should go with:guys, we have a rake, the prize will be usually x2.5 and sometimes it will be x10; or any different idea, because how many players get to play their advertised x10000? Or even x20 or x100.I know I know, how many players do win the jackpot or the lottery, but at least there are some "consolation prizes", and here it only x2 or x3, maaaaybe x5 if you get lucky.
Sure, my analysis stand, I think with a decent play, you can with 45% of spin and gos and be somewhat profitable, but things about the game are so freaking annoying and you can get easily tilted. Did anyone make some money playing Spin an Go?
