You can find the full details here:
https://www.pokerstars.com/stars-rewards/

"Players earn 45 reward points for every USD $1 paid in fees for scheduled tournaments, and 100 reward points for every USD $1 paid in rake in Zoom or cash games"

As an example, to get a blue chest which has an expected value of $0.60 you need to get 2850 star reward points which means $63 in tournament fees or $28.5 in cash game/zoom rake.

Very useful and interesting information!!!

So this means cashgame players have an "expected rakeback" of 2,1%? (and tournament players 0,95% sadly lol)

I assume this percentage increases at every chest-level. Is there an overview/has someone calculated these percentages?

6 holdem is a way to fill quickly, it depends a lot on the amount that will enter the room.

PS chests are not that good now. When the coins could be used on The Deal, I think it was better. I always waited for a big amount of money to start every twelve hours. I got some good prizes.
I opened a chest these days, and, sincerely, Didn't like anything at all.
Why, the Deal games are still on the PS, I even somehow credited $ 5.75 for playing The Deal in the last 12 hours before someone hit the jackpot there.

As for the chests themselves, it is better to open them by playing cash games only on tables with rates from 0.25/0.50 and higher than the micro limit.

In order to open the chests you need to fill the progress bar, and this is possible only when you play for money and collect certain points. A well-thought-out and disciplined game is the key to success.

Earlier this year I was getting a blue chest every few days by playing micro stakes zoom. At that stage the points requirement was low. Then they suddenly changed it to 2850. Now it's impossible to achieve at micro tables.

I never go chasing nonsense like this because it's designed to make you spend (and lose) money. However I was getting coins to play the deal and some tournament entries without spending a lot, the cash out feature of the tables helped as well.

I sent them an email about the sudden increase in points requirement and got a half arsed reply back that didn't answer the question at all. Since then I no longer play their cash tables.

Hey so can anyone explain to me a better way to fill the chests on pokerstars. I play a 2cent buy in tourney and get 2 points, I play a 25cent buy in tourney and get 2 points. So I'm really not sure how it works. Should I play cash games in stead?

Thanks,
S.powell

It's 8 points for every dollar buy in tourneys. So if you play 25 cent games you get 2 points.

I do not advise you to pay attention to chests and other tasks - this is all done so that you play more and invest money
personally, when I play, I can start a task, but I don’t really bother with the execution, I just play and finish, regardless of whether I completed the task or not
if you did it well and if not, then no, they will not give much anyway

In cash games, points are accumulated faster. But it's better not to pay attention to these chests, they are so funny from today's organizers. The farther away pokerstars is, the more stingy the owners are:)

Okay thanks, I was just curious. Hower that doesnt 100% answer my question. Is there a chart somewhere that shows what you get points based off of?

I just opened a chest on Pokerstars. It took me 2,850 points to get it.
All I won was 10 stupid gold coins. A lousy $5k Freeroll ticket. And a $0.50 Spin ticket.

This is what you receive for spending $28 in rake, LOL.

Garbage!

Hi all!

I agree with those who advise to ignore the chests and focus on increasing your bankroll by playing well.

I agree with this concept, also if the chests give you tickets, money or similar it is welcome to add to the bankroll but without being the priority or the overall goal.
thanks
