yeah i know, usually about 3000 people, stars adds 50$, it's a turbo, very donkish players, often you will see 4-5 players all in pre.

to be honest with you it is kinda hard to get in the money because there is so much luck involved when there is a high chance that more than 1 guy will call your all in preflop.

so if you don't have the biggest bankroll maybe you can try the 25c 45 or 90 man sngs, now these are not turbo so you have a little more time to wait for better spots.

personally i build a bankroll on stars by playing 10c sngs, the ones with 360 people in them, to get to 20$ it took me hundreds of those, i would have been better off playing 25c sngs but i was playing more for the thrill, i didn't know what i was doing.

Of course it's a donkfest, it only costs .10c. If you are looking to have fun for a little while, then this might be the tournament for you, but I wouldn't go in expecting to win. You do that, and you're going to be posting here in a week about how your AA got cracked by 58o AIPF. That's the type of play you get there...Terrible. And although terrible play is good for you if you know how to play, the board is going to catch your good cards in a bad way a good portion of the time. I would stick to anything higher than $2 if you can, and if you can't because you have no roll, then I would stick to freerolls over the .10 ones if you can, at least you're not putting in the little amount you have into those ones...

Perhaps try the smaller donkfest of 360 players .10c entry no rake.

I made a run on these a long time back and once you get onto the final table youre getting some ok money. First prize is $8.50, 36 get paid.

Most of the field knock themselves out and good tight play can get you to the cash, they dont take too long and another one starts every 5 mins.

Best of luck

Total donkfest but if you dont get too involved in huge pots with marginal hands you might do ok.

I played in the PLO games. I played in 100 of these (costs 10 bucks) and here are my results

Total Challenge Profit (+/-) +$13.50

ROI - 135%

ITM - 26 times

Final Table - 5 times

Best finish - 2nd place (three times)

Here is my challenge thread

https://www.cardschat.com/forum/poker-goals-challenges-wins-46/plo-100-game-challenge-179877/

I would highly suggest this if you have the 10 bucks to spare. If you are decent at holdem you should be able to build up a little and see a lot of hands in the process.

Keep in mind though that these are as others have said donkfests. That doesn't mean you should play them it just means you have to learn how to adjust.

But chances are you don't have the proper bankroll to support playing $3 SnG's...

The PS $0.10 Sit'n Go (360 players) can be used to build a small bankroll. When I have donked my PS holdings away in a beer haze, thats what I normally use to get started again. My method is playing 4 at a time and just using patience. It works :)

Never this ^
I'll actually play one of those 10c turbo MTT's for fun if there's one reg'n in the lobby when I'm on there - - they're fun imo. (and 'yes', I usually cash... actually I think I've cashed in over 80% of them). Bubble pops in ~1.5hrs. I believe. IF you've got a good shove/fold game (& avoid playing marginal stuff in early levels.. unless you have great imp. odds & it costs you little). As you're approaching the bubble the blinds can be stolen relentlessly.
These games are fun & very easy to cash in imo. And hey, they even add $50 to the prizepool.

idk about 'building the bankroll fast' in them though.... I can't recall cashing for more than 20cents in them, lol.

If you've got a small bankroll I'd suggest playing 2nl although on Stars it kinda sucks (it seems much better on Fulltilt for some reason).
Also.. forget about the get rich quick thinking - slow & steady is best.

i like them

i love these Pokerstar tournaments, too bad other sites dont have them, i would play in them as well if other sites had these. The blinds are 5 minutes, but that's better than full tilt which is like 3 minutes. at least you have a chance to play a little poker with 5 min blinds.

Saturday evening i decided to donk into a $2.20 rebuy - with a $20 BR, which isnt the smartest thing to do...

Today, left with $1.02 on my PS account, I went to the 360 Sit'n Go's as mentioned earlier.

Playing 4 at a time as usual, i'm now at $4.02 slowly regaining a little ground. (I normally stick to the $1.10, 15 minute blind, 2k guaranteed MTT's. They seem to provide all the poker fun i need at the moment).

I've tried building a roll from scratch like this so many times. Don't do it. Deposit 50$. If you don't have $50 stop playing until you do, or indefinitely if you can't afford to play poker.

All these tourneys do is provide you with bad habits for when you play proper ones later on.

Don't take offense to this but my problem with this advice is that the conversation is about MTT and you are suggesting Ring games. Your advice is almost always valuable to me but this doesn't sit well.

I absolutely hate ring and it is always being suggested to me. I have tried it it and I fail. Maybe I fail in SnGs and MTTs too but at least I fail less and I have fun at it......lol

I play ring when I don't have a lot of time for MTT play but I have to say that the two are so different it is hard to say I do well and would be better just reading or watching a video than donking off my money

BTW seriously it's the scotch talking don't pay any attention to me ;)

The reason he's saying that kmix is because it is a little easier to play within your bankroll when you're playing ring, while still having somewhat of a chance of increasing your bankroll. When you're playing these tournaments here, you really are throwing your money away the majority of the time when you're playing with such a low roll.

I only disagree with that logic to say that if you suck at ring then you are throwing your money away anyway.

The 10 cent games and the 25 cent games can be a good bankroll builder. I am sure you saw my 100 game challenge at the 10 cent games.

The OP never said what their current BR was at PS and they haven't been back to clarify

It's really hard to suggest playing the 10 cent games when you only have 40c to $1. The challenge I did required $10.

Really it's hard to suggest anything except depositing or playing freerolls with that low of a bankroll. .10c games you have 4-10 buy-ins and even with 2NL you don't have a full buy-in.

The rakefree 360man´s with a buy-in of $0.10 are one of the best ways to build your bankroll on pokerstars. I remember that Thomas "Boku87" Boekhoff (from my country ! :) ) used them for his challenge $5--->$100000 within a year. I tried it too, won two of these turbo tourneys already this month  . A lot of good aspects: No fee, they don´t last long, good to multitable, soft fields, they fill up fast. Good luck ! :D

How broke are you guys ? You can't deposit 50 bucks ? What is the point in wasting your time playing 10 cent and 25 cent buy in tournaments ?

Some people aren't able to deposit (for whatever reasons) & others like to make a challenge out of building a bankroll without ever depositing. Personally I don't think I could ever get myself to do that again on a poker site but have done so in the past (it is possible). I built up a few accounts from zero to $175, $300, $550, & another I just finally went busto on (but had transferred out a bunch prior to doing so.. 'UB'). Some enjoy the challenge of building up from nothing while practising good bankroll management (I did at one time.... it's kinda cool to grind it out & then see a bankroll sitting there from all your efforts... and then will likely have one sticking to good bankroll management once they do actually build it up to where they can afford to play $5-$10 buyins.. or 10nl or 25nl.. or wherever they're at. (there are some who've built from nothing & are rolled to play 200nl)).
