A big mistake by pokerstars in my opinion to get rid of the free freerolls. The players lose
But maybe PokerStars win? Of course only PokerStars (and perhaps CC) know, why they made this business decision to cancel the CC freerolls. But if their survey show, that people playing those games spend very little money on raked games, then why would they continue to host the freerolls? The whole idea of freerolls it to attract players, who then spend money elsewhere.A big mistake by Pokerstars in my opinion to get rid of the free freerolls. The players lose
Similar example from IKEA:Of course they only do this, because they hope, that people will also buy something else, when they are in the store already.
I can definitely confirm, that a trip to Ikea with my wife always end up being far more expensive than expectedDue to increased online sales, they're loosing revenue because people tend to make less spontaneous purchases online than in the stores.
Yeah if u ever planning on opening a grocery store and running promotions like this i would first make sure not too many micro poker players or freerollers live near that store 😂Like when a grocery store has a special "offer of the week", which is so cheap, that they actually lose money on each item, they sell. Of course they only do this, because they hope, that people will also buy something else, when they are in the store already. So if the grocery store notice, that 9 out of 10 customers only purchase the "special offer" and nothing else, they will likely stop making such campaigns. And quite possibly its something similar, that happened here.
They don't give anything for free, they earn a lot from our entries into their tournaments, the freerolls are just a way for us to return some of what we investedMany poker players only wish they had the chance to play on Pokerstars. (ie. U.S.A.).
The site has a lot of great things going for it. Personally I'm grateful for the opportunity to play on there... & it's only a few mouse clicks away for me. Awesome!
And yah... as far as 'freerolls' go, who would want a free chance at winning money on a good site... & decent-sized prizepools too.
When they're handing out free money (for years) they all love them. They change their business approach regarding freerolls, all of a sudden they are a terrible site.
Exactly this. Too many people were just turning up for the freerolls and not playing raked games I expect. I cant see pokerstars made much money from offering these freerolls. Maybe if they offered once a week instead of daily (plus extra on the weekend) it might have been more viable. But maybe PokerStars win? Well they are not the most generous, but it's not like they give nothing. They don't give anything for free, they earn a lot from our entries into their tournaments, the freerolls are just a way for us to return some of what we invested
I understand your point but I think that losing players because they play less in their real money games is at least a bad marketing strategy. But maybe PokerStars win? The poker site you own & operate... how's it going? They don't give anything for free, they earn a lot from our entries into their tournaments, the freerolls are just a way for us to return some of what we invested

Those guys will only show up for the "offer of the week" and buy anything else everywhere else where its 1 cent+ cheaper 🥲

For example: In pokertars you can play with play money, right? How many of those players actually play for real money?
Did they cancel any of those games?
Offering play money games is free except for the extra load, it puts on the servers. Actually sites even earn a little by selling play money chips to people, who get sort of addicted to the play money games. Offering freerolls on the other hand is money directly out of the sites pocket, so the two are not the same at allFor example: In pokertars you can play with play money, right? I'm just giving my opinion, friend, I don't care about pokerstars, they can really do whatever they want with their site, I don't care if they put in or take out freerolls, there are more important things in life than a simple game of cards. Don't take everything so literallyI'm thinking that a multi-BILLION dollar site would have explored their Marketing strategies more than you or me could ever possibly imagine. I'm pretty sure they have heavily invested in this aspect of their business. But hey, maybe you know better than they do... why not write to them with some great business/promotion suggestions... like maybe 'offering freerolls' to players on the site.
I was merely expressing a point.... suggesting that Pokerstars has looked into things (as far as running a business goes) a little deeper than you or I have. But thanks for laughing at my comment... makes me feel my time was well invested.I'm just giving my opinion, friend, I don't care about pokerstars, they can really do whatever they want with their site, I don't care if they put in or take out freerolls, there are more important things in life than a simple game of cards. They only owe a little of what we invest in, but they don't invest in sponsoring the formula, I hope their audience enjoys watching formula 1 so much that they forget to play on their platformThey only owe a little of what we invest in, but they don't invest in sponsoring the formula, I hope their audience enjoys watching formula 1 so much that they forget to play on their PlatformI did well in the PS freerolls, it's a shame they removed it... PS always mistreats its clients.
You must be a marketing expert. Me I just focus on stuff like 3-of-a-kind > beats > 2pairThis platform only sponsors the formula with our entries in their tournaments, well you must really like car racing, you should be there and not here in a poker playing community

Last night PokerStars hosted a freeroll related to their EPT Paris stream, in which they gave away 60 tickets to Sunday Million Anniversary. Thats a $215 tournament, so a total pricepool of over $13.000. Unfortunately I could not participate in this due to the rules of the swedish license. But it goes to show, that there are still freerolls and other promotions on PokerStars. Just not the CC freerolls any more.
