mcs198, thank you very much for the info. I have been itching to get over to Meadows to play in one of their tourneys. I have heard they actually get some stud games off once in a while and heard a rumor that they also get a stud or horse tournament. Can you confirm if that is true?

Also this weekend (Nov 12-15) is a series of great tournaments at the Hollywood Casino in Lawrenceburg IN (just outside of Cincy). The events will probably get over 400 players each especially today's $340 Deepstack.

Springfield Club

I've heard that a club is opening in Springfield. Anybody else heard about this? Would anybody play there if it does open?

Just wanted to note that there is another new club in the Columbus area. SPC has opened up on the far east side. It is located on Broad Street near Mt Carmel Hospital (opposite side of Broad though).

240 Outerbelt St. Columbus OH

I have heard that they cater to the 2/5 and 5/5 NL crowds but they are also getting limit games going (3/6, 4/8 and 5/10).

Also, an update on the scene is that Buckeye Card Club in Pickerington has been getting some very good 10/20 LHE games going weekly. I think Thursdays and Fridays are the big days for this crowd.

Recently heard that EPC at Hamilton and Refugee Rds had reopened. I do not know whom is running it nor very many other details other than they have been getting games off. Will try to find out further info for anyone interested.

Platinum Players Club is due to open their second location in the Columbus area. This one will be located in the Brice Road area in the old mall there next to Andersons. The mall is currently a flea market with a movie theater and small food court. (Cajun place has some different tastes to try out... good)

So Gemini has undergone a slight revamping. They are now running 1/2 tables along side the 1/3s. The 1/2s are max 200 buy in. Also check out their site as they have additional info on the 1/2 tables which make them interesting. www.geminiplayersclub.com

The new SPC club on the far east side is now up and running seven days a week. Have heard they have some very good 2/5 and occasionally 5/5 NL games. Their site is www.spcpoker.com.

Buckeye Card Club in Pickerington going strong. They have brought back their Qualifier tournaments on Sunday again for this quarter. The 1/2 NL and 10/20 LHE continue to draw.

Platinum Players seems to actually be picking up a little business these days. They have some type of internet cubicles set up for what they call "Sweepstakes". I personally am not familiar with the machines or their operations but maybe someone out they knows of them and likes to play them. Their poker continues to go strong and they appear to be getting NL games off much more frequently. Please note they have a new web address : http://www.grovecitypoker.com/

Nick's Shark Tank ( http://www.nickssharktank.com/) has been having some very good tournaments from what I have been told. Unfortunately I do not make it there early enough and only know that they have some very good cash games.

Columbus Sports Club ( http://www.columbussportsclub.com/index.html ) has a very strong cash game following and tournament following. They are also the only club (that I am aware of) to get a regular HORSE game going on Wednesdays.

The other clubs to the best of my knowledge are all doing well also. None are overflowing with too many tables but get regular action. Unfortunately I am unable to visit all of the clubs. Evergreen Players Club, Ace of Clubs, Premeir Club, Lancaster Players Club, and The Bicycle Club.

As an additional comment, it seems as though the poker scene in central Ohio is picking back up a little bit. That is great to think of and I hope it has wider implications and is indicative of the country's overall poker scene.

The dynamics of the central Ohio poker scene continue to evolve.

Gemini has regularly been getting of a 3/6 limit game. They have also brought back the 1/2 NL game which is doing well.

Platinum still has their daily limit game but have regularly getting a 2/5 NL game going with a decent rotation of players. Platinum is also opening a sister location in the old Scarborough Mall off of Brice Road.

Buckeye is still getting their lively 10/20 game going but are adding 3/6 into the daily offerings. They recently had their first $200 tournament and was pretty successful. I fully expect another $200 buy in the future there. Their tournies continue strong on the weekends.

The Bicycle Club also has been getting regular cash games going. Sometimes .50/1.00 and sometimes 1/2.

Nick's Shark Tank's cash games are going strong.

Columbus Sports Club also has expanded their HORSE games from Wed to Fridays now. They get 2 tables on Wed and 1 on Fridays. Nice change from just HoldEm games.

There is a new club opening this weekend on the south side of Columbus off of High St (close to 270). Will get more details this weekend on it.

The new club on the southside will be called LUCKY DOGS.

And the new sister club to Platinum in the old Scarborough Mall had a freeroll last night.

I'm green with envy over the choices you Central Ohio folks have for live poker. The choices I have around here are so limited.

But you have some state legal casinos in NY at least.

Side note, any other takers for the poster idea?

Anyone see Jimmy Kimmel last night? The Mayor of Cincinnatti oddly made a cameo appearance. He was promoting the city like the whore he is but it sounds like you Cinci boys are getting a brand new casino. Lucky F***s.

Hmmm...wondering if I can hijack this thread. Well just a little. Anyone know of any live-play opportunities in NE Ohio? I play almost exclusively online, but when I do feel the urge to play live, I'm currently driving to Mountaineer in WVA (about an hour's drive or so). The Central Ohio choices sound good, but the drive would be even longer. Anyone? Anything running regularly in NE Ohio. Cleveland is also about a hour for me, so that would be a wash with Mountaineer, but at least would give me more choices. FWIW I live in the Warren/Youngstown area and am approximately halfway between Cleveland and Pittsburg. Thanks for any/all help/suggestions.

The only thing that is regular in the Cleveland area is the Nautica Charity Poker events. Check out http://www.nauticacharitypoker.org/

Unfortunately I am unfamiliar with much else in NE Ohio except the Cleveland area. Also check out Meetup.com as there is a NE or Cleveland group on there that has regular games, both cash and tournament. I believe a couple of members here on Cardschat are members of that group.

Yeah but the casino rake is redonkulious these days according to my local club players that hit Turning Stone. For my area TS is the only one within 2 hours but there is a new PA one that is just a shade under 2 hours.

I have not heard about the posters. If it does happen I'm sure a mod/Nick will let us know as they are very aware of this thread.

Jilly, only played at TS once but the field there is very very soft. And as bad of a player as I am, that is saying something.

OK, thanks for the tips. i'll definately check-out Meetup and maybe turn-up something. NOT FAIR that you guys in central/southern Ohio have so many more choices than us up here in the north.
