Sportsbook to stop accepting US players on May 1st

According to a post in the General poker forum here at CC today, SportsBook and 1 other site will stop accepting new US players on May 1st. The post says that existing US players will be allowed to continue paying. So if you wanna play on SB, you better open your account soon........

....and the walls came tumbling down.

Every time you play a real money ring game the online poker room takes a percentage of the pot - normally 5 to 10%. Rakeback gives you back some of the rake you personally contributed to the pot.

You can get back 33% or more. It's a way of encouraging you to play at that particular poker room. The more you play, the more rake you generate, the more you get back - you get the idea.

Of all of them, Sportsbook is the easiest of the 3 to fund, they can take credit cards, I normally use a prepaid card like netspend. I recently just signed up for a card from www.entropay.com but have not used it yet

I would just let them go non-usa and be happy you didnt join. Why take the chance you may be like one of these mass of guys who didnt get paid on the sportsbook side. Just to many sites around to take a chance.
http://www.sportsbookreview.com/sbr/sportsbook.com/

SBR RATING D-

D- to D+ Poor, some risk to players funds. Poor customer service, etc.

Comment on Forum: safe 2 say the are the jeckyl and hyde of all sportsbooks...

So in otherwords, lots of people get paid, some very slow, but then some don't. Personally I (WEC) do not want to be the one that does not.

Pretty crazy, so Carbon is gonna stop taking new players, but let current ones keep playing? This doesn't make sense to me. My only theory is perhaps they can not get US deposits in, but can still send out payouts? Anyways looks like soon bodog will be the only game in town and how long can that last before our government gets them too.....

Bodog, while eliminating the many daily $500 freerolls they used to have - Still not the worst, they give you instant credit 10% of the first deposit, plus the normal 100% deposit bonus earned by playing. They have 25 point freerolls to $7500 prizepool Freeroll that occurs on 2nd and last Saturday of each month.

Actually FWIW you can play in two 25 point freerolls (qualify for $7500 Twice Monthly Freeroll) without making a deposit...

50 Free Points: One of the first steps to getting started in the poker room is to create a screen name, which is part of your public identity at the tables. Download the Bodog Poker Software and login using your Bodog Account details. You’ll be prompted to create your Screen Name and 50 Poker Points will automatically be added to your player account.

I think that the merge network has a larger player pool than Bodog. And it's getting bigger very quickly. The guarantees on all the merge MTTs have gone up around 50%. Even their weekly sunday $109 buyin has gone from 50k to 75k now.

They've also added some more mid stakes tournies, which were needed to attract more traffic.

Just a heads up, rakeback is only for the buy in fees that you ACTUALLY pay for, if you say win a 11 sat. (.35 of 1 dollar. fee) and you get a 60 sat. You do not get rakeback for the 60 dollar event. So unless you plan on buying into a 60 sat. yourself, rakeback is not good because they basically take 35% of your pts. away.

I prefer playing in Carbon because there are more players who play in this site compared to the other two. Good luck and see you at the tables.

Is this still the case with Bodog freerolls?

No, it ended in May. A lot of US sites are scaling back on promotions (makes sense). But this one wasn't bad. Besides the $100+ you could collect, they gave away 10 iPad2's, and if you made the required flush during the promotion, you got a ticket for a $10K Freeroll that runs today (Saturday) at 4:30 EST
The best promotion Bodog has now is the long running "King of the Felt" promotion that gets you entry into a 1.5K and 1K Freeroll if you cash in the requisite number of SNGs each week, and also gets you into a drawing to play 1K heads up against the previous winner. If you win like 10 weeks in a row, you get free entry in wsop Main Event.

They have a 25 point freeroll everyday that gets you entry into the twice monthly $7500 Freeroll that pays deep into the field and doesnt have a million entries. If you are a new depositor you get 6 exclusive entries for a freeroll to the Sunday $100,000 Guaranteed tournament. (plus 100% Matching Bonus up to $1100)
