I recently decided to give pokerhost a try. I tried to take advantage of the 100% deposit bonus. When I played the freerolls I had no problems but when I tried to play live I had connectivity issues. It always (I think 3 times total.) happened when I was in a pot and I would always lose whatever I had invested. This is not to say that I never won a pot but I did find it impossible to play there because of it. I don't have connectivity problems at the other online rooms where I play regularly. These include Jetset Poker (my favorite) Poker Stars, Paradise Poker, Hollywood Poker, Full Tilt Poker, Ultimate Bet, etc. Suffice to say that I know that its not a problem with my connection or my computer. I talked to a host there and explained the problem. They agreed to let me have my initial deposit back and I would forfiet my bonus money. I had $94 in my account at the time. The amount was adjusted to $50 (the amount I originally deposited.) I cashed this out to my neteller account and the transaction went through. 3 days later, when it came through to my account, the amount had been adjusted down to $44. I again had a conversation with someone at poker host help. Here is the transcript:
Powered by SightMaxWelcome to www.pokerhost.com. randy will be right with you.
randy Thank you for contacting Online Poker
Support! How can I help you today?

mystery_shopper i cashed out $50 the other day into my neteller account but only $44 showed up.

randy One moment please while I verify.
randy May I have your security answer please?

mystery_shopper(i give him the answer here)

randy Actually my records state that you requested $44

mystery_shopper no it was $50
mystery_shopper you changed it
mystery_shopper if thats what your record states
mystery_shopper i deposited $50 and tried to take advantage of your 100% promo but I was unable because you have connectivity issue in your live games.

Gus joined the chat.
GusHello! How are you doing today?

mystery_shopper I had a conversation about this with you last week and you told me that i could get mey $50 deposit back if i gave up the promo money

Gus What happened was that as you may know you forfeit your bonus money, those were $50.00

mystery_shopper no

mystery_shopper they took the bonus money away and left me $50 in my account

mystery_shopper this i cashed out to neteller

GusThe remaining money is what belongs to you.

mystery_shopper but only $44 came through

mystery_shopper no

mystery_shopper they told me that I could get my deposit back

Gus In fact is was to be done the other way around.

mystery_shopper since i was having connectivity issues

mystery_shopper well i cashed out $50

GusYes you can get your money back, however, you played and you lost some money.

mystery_shopper on your site

mystery_shopper because i was unable to stay connected

mystery_shopperbecause your site sucks

Gus That is why we took the bonus money (that I am sure you are aware are $50.00) and we left the money that was yours.

mystery_shopper i have no problems like this anywhere else

mystery_shopperis it my fault you cannot maintain a connection?

mystery_shopper and that is no t what happened . . . my account was left at $50 and that is what i cashed out

GusI am very sorry for the inconvenience you are been thru. It was changed to be like that, like it os now.

mystery_shopper yes it was

mystery_shopper why?

Gus The amount you were sent is correct.

mystery_shopper no it is not

GusBecause you forfeited your bonus money.

mystery_shopper we agreed on me getting my original deposit back

mystery_shopper the last conversation

mystery_shopper i was supposed to get my $50 back

mystery_shopper and that is what i cashed out

Gus When you forfeit a bonus you cannot forfeit part of it.

mystery_shopper and it was changed after the fact

GusYou can only forfeit it all.

mystery_shopper this is what was agreed upon last conversation

Gus You were sent the money was left after the forfeit.

Gus Those were $44.00
Gus That is what you were sent.

mystery_shopper as i stated it was agreed that i would cash out my original deposit of $50

mystery_shopper this was what poker host told be before I cashed out the $50 that you left in my account before it got changed

mystery_shopperin other words i had $94 . . . the person i talked to changed it to $50 and I cashed it out because that is what we agreed upon.

Gus If your balance had been greater and your initial deposit, then yes, that would have been the case, but in fact you lost some money, at moment you request al full amount withdrawal, without playing your bonus money, you are to forfeit it, and that is exactly what we did.

mystery_shoppersomeone changed it aftwards

mystery_shopperin other words i had $94 . . . the person i talked to changed it to $50 and I cashed it out because that is what we agreed upon.

mystery_shopperyour ignoring the fact that i had an agreement with the last person who i talked to from pokerhost

GusThe banking department can send you only the money you are entitled to.mystery_shopperthey told me i could have my orginal deposit back

mystery_shopper the left $50 in my account

mystery_shopper how do you reconsile that?

Gus The fact you requested a full amount withdrawal, makes us to forfeit your bonus money, the money you were sent was what you in fact were entitled to.

mystery_shopper I know that you won't email this to me because you haven't sent any of my prior conversations but fortunately i have copied them and i stll have them. I will post conversation along with the last one where ever i see fit.

GusYou had $94.00 your bonus money was $50.00 94-50 = $44.00

mystery_shopperi know but that is not what the last person told me

mystery_shopper he restored my account to $50 and i cashed it out

mystery_shopper plain and simple

mystery_shopper he did the right thing

mystery_shopper you are doing the wrong thing

mystery_shopper its easy

Gus That is what you are entitled to. I apologize if there was a misunderstanding in your previous conversations.

mystery_shopper it was not a misunderstanding

GusNone of those $50.00 belonged to you yet, if you had continued playing you would have been able to cash it all out.

Gus You need to play to clear the money.

mystery_shopper if your site cannot keep my connection when i play then how can i play?

GusYou didn't want to play, then we just take it out

mystery_shopper if your site cannot keep my connection when i play then how can i play?

GusThat was done upon your request.

mystery_shopper if your site cannot keep my connection when i play then how can i play?

mystery_shopper you put your money in the pot . . . then the site dumps you and you lose

mystery_shopper good site

mystery_shopper then they lie to you

mystery_shopper and bs you

mystery_shopper i was told that i could get my original deposit back

GusI am very sorry for you not to be able to get connected, I am sure you are aware we tried, however, your decision was not to play anymore. I see you did play a couple of time and I also see you lost some money.

mystery_shopper i don't have connection issues at any ot the other site where i play every day

mystery_shopper do you understand that i cannot play live here?

Gus Neither we did or do.

mystery_shopper do you understand that? mystery_shopper yes or no

Gus In fact I do, however do you get what I am telling as well?

mystery_shopper so if i cannot play live then i cannot receive my deposit bonus correct?

Gus That is certainly correct.

mystery_shopper so you offer is not valid to me

mystery_shopperi gave it an honest try

mystery_shopperbut every time i tried to play live

mystery_shopper i lost the money in the pot because your server dumped me

mystery_shopper the last person understood this and refunded my original deposit

mystery_shopper which was the right thing to do

mystery_shopper i cashed it out

mystery_shopper it went through
mystery_shopper then it was changed
mystery_shopper without my knowledge
mystery_shopper until the deposit appeared in my neteller account less $6

mystery_shopper you would think that for $6 . . . a company would prefer to do the right thing

Gus I see you played a few hands and won, we are not the ones to blame if your luck is not with you, are we?

Gus I can show you a hand you played and won.

mystery_shopper your server dumped me

mystery_shopper more than once

GusPlayer Mystery_Shopper does not show cards. Bets: 1.09. Collects: 1.59 Wins: 0.50

mystery_shopper and i was involved in a pot every time

GusGame started at: 14:57:08 09/19/05

mystery_shopperyour sever dumped me

mystery_shopper several times

mystery_shopper do you get it?
mystery_shopper the fact that i won some hands is irrelevant

Gus If that had been in our end you would have been given an "ALL IN"

mystery_shopperi cannot play if i get dumped
mystery_shopper the game was closed

mystery_shopper lol

GusYou wouldn't have been folded.

mystery_shopper in the middle of a hand

mystery_shopper so now you are saying that i am lying too?

mystery_shopper that what i am describing did not happen?

Gus Did I say that, not that I am aware, and I do not like to be put words I don't say.

mystery_shopper then what are you saying?mystery_shopper are you saying that i did not have connectivity issues with your site?mystery_shopper are you saying that the table did not close in the middle of a hand?
mystery_shopper what EXACTLY are you saying

mystery_shopper are you saying that the last person i spoke to restored my account to $50 in error?

mystery_shopper Are you saying that there is no transaction on your log for $50 ?

mystery_shopperCause i know that i cashed out $50

mystery_shopper just took a screenshot of the time

mystery_shopperin case i have to wait too long for a response from you

mystery_shopper Since you choose this path i will waste no more of my time here. I am going to go post this on as many poker sites as I can find so that future depositers are not fooled into putting money into your site.

mystery_shopperHave a great day

GusAgain, I am sorry for the misunderstanding you got to have, but the way it was done, it was the correct.

mystery_shopper oh its ok i will just post this everywhere

mystery_shopper btw thanks for the timely answer

mystery_shopperthat only took 37 minutes

GusIn the meantime is there anything else I can assist you with today?

mystery_shopperlmao
mystery_shopper too funny
mystery_shopper The first copy is just about ready to go up at poker forum.com

mystery_shopperin case you want to read it

I had the same connectivity problems with them after I started playing real money games, usually at the SNGs. It cost me the game on one of them and I was so furious I demanded my buy-in back. They would not budge after continually explaining the situation to them, and that it was their fault...I did finally get a free entry into the $2000 Gauranteed...that I forgot to play in.

Anyone who tries to deposit on pokerhost should come to this site and read the dozen or more threads here saying "DO NOT PLAY AT POKERHOST". You only lost $6, most people who played there wont be nearly as lucky.

I seem to be the only person that actually likes PokerHost. Soft freerolls (except that they just decreased my favorite from $500 to $300), okay SNGs, decent ring games, and fun cheap buy-in multi-table tourneys. Won my first good tourney at PokerHost. I might just cash out a little money to see what I think then ...

didn't quite get it all but from what i understand you deposited $50 and were entitle to a %100 bonus if you cleared it.
then you had connectivity issues and weren't able to clear the raked hands requirement.
so he took the bonus back
unfortunate that you had connection problems but they can't give you the bonus if you haven't cleared it...just unfortunate
i dont think many people have the best experiences with pokerhost...

edit: just realized how bloody old this post is...

I too was considering PokerHost. Now I think I'll pass. I'm left with bodog, BoSPoker, Paradise, or Pacific. Anyone care to share what they know about these? My concerns are traffic, connectivity, & ease of withdrawl.

From the way I see this it may be the right thing.

You deposit $50

They deposit $50 immediately RE:100% bonus

Account Balance = $100

you play some games and lose $6 total

account balance = $94

You never cleared the bonus because you had some connectivity issues so you decide to cash out. your money.

account balance = $94

pokerhost takes thier bonus back = $50

your money = $44

some idiot who wanted to just get rid of you and stop chatting with you gave you the answer you wanted $50 is yours. and then the auditors find that $50 is bonus bucks which you never cleared during the period in which you were waiting for the cash out ans they change it to $44 in which you are entitled to.

you needed to have than $100 in your account to get back $50.

if you just stayed and read your account statement before all this it would state:

Account Balance = $44

Pending Bonus money = $50

and this would have avoided all the confusion.

But the connectivity problems that are stated in this thread lead me to believe Pokerhost is gonna take your money without you knowing it. they do this when you have the not so good hand they are going to make you showdown, as opposed to bluffing everyone else out of the pot, by ruining your connection. ;)

I don't know why so many are down on Paradise! They had some glitches quite a few months back when they upgraded their software, but those have been ironed out. Lots of players with a variety of soft and skilled. I like their SNGs and ring games, plus they have a little more variety of poker games.

BoS is great too. TONS of soft players, and they have SNGs down to $0.10 buy-in. Check it out!

Tammy,

I was gong to say the same thing about Paradise. Now that they have their upgrade straighten out I haven't seen much of a probelm over there unless I have a few other sites running at once. But I noticed that almost all my sites lag a bit if I try to run more than one at once. Especially AP. Now that is one slow sucker of a site! Even if it's the only one running pffffft.

I play on Paradise more than any other site, and I haven't had connectivity issues. Pacific I've had crash a few times, and PokerChamps, but InterPoker, Bugsys, Paradise, Absolute and Noble have all been solid.
The main downside that my friends have seen on Paradise has been the relatively slow rate of play compared to some other sites.

One thing about Pokerhost, their support sucks and policies suck. Theonly good thing about Pokerhost is their freerolls because of the variety and they are not difficult to place in. It's the only reason I play there. The money I hvae there is all freeroll winnings. I won't be able to withdrawl any of that money, I just play with it until it's gone.

Thats from PokerHost's perspective, lol. I'd say it should be like this...
$50 deposited, $50 bonus.

Acct: $94.... You Money: $47 their money: $47
Thats honest and fair...

But we're talking about the evil scam artist PokerHost here...
The worst cardroom w/ the worst support imaginable...

I was about to deposit at PokerHost after I just received an e-mail about some exceptionally major bonus 300% I think... I contact support right before depositing (which I ALWAYS suggest) and find out I'm only entitled to a 50% bonus. Even though I downloaded directly from a link that said 300%, I got the stereotypical... That offer had expired b/s. Even though they sent out the e-mail that day! That and I disappeared from two tournaments there, I was signed up and in. And when the tourneys were about to launch, my name up and disappeared as if I had never registered.
Supports answer: "Thats not possible"

Yeah Pokerhost's software is perfect and never makes a mistake.
Digging their own grave if you ask me. :goodnight

(be on the look out for Sinful too of course)
