Satellites to the events were running throughout the day both MTT and sit and gos. These were all raked. I crunched some numbers where I compared what the pokerstars profit would be in a tourney where hypothetically all players did direct entry with the same tourney where hypothetically all players entries were via satellite. I just used single satellite when I number crunched although there were also satellites to satellites--gets quite complicated. What I found is that the more people that enter via satellites as opposed to direct entry the better pokerstars would do.
Now I have to come up with an estimate of the percentage of the total value of entry fees for all the blowout tourneys that came from satellite entries and how much came from direct entry. I really do not have a clue but I have to pick a number. In a lot of the tourneys there were a lot of reentries and most of these would not be from satellite tickets. I decided to use 40 percent as the revenue from satellite and 60 percent from direct entry.
With this assumption and my number crunching I came up with the factor 1.45. Thus the profit to pokerstars before consideration of ticket giveaways is:
5419521.10 x 1.45= 7858305.60

My problem with the tickets is that I lost the 3 games I entered.

But I had the same problem I thought I would save the 22 ticket even though there were quite a few tournaments running because I wasn't in the right place mentally to play. Then a few days later there were only satellites left. Registered, blew it quickly.

Guess I should complete the course here and try and put it to practice.

In my experience this was the biggest giveaway that I have seen from pokerstars. Usually there is not much in the chests and they are not even easy to open. I am not sure but I think that everyone received a 5.50 ticket an 11 ticket and a 22 ticket for total value of 38.50. Now how many players would have used these tickets and again I have to make an assumption.
I am going to assume that the number of people that received these ticket containing chests would be similar in number to the people that entered the Jan 1 tourney since the 11 dollar tickets were only good for that tourney. So thus we have:
184727 x 38.50= 7111989.50 loss from chest ticket giveaway

In addition to this there was the giveaways in the blowout ticket machine of 2 million.

There were also smaller affiliate giveaways as well but I will not factor them in.
So we have 7111989.50 + 2000000= 9111989.50 loss

So a rough estimate of the profit or loss to pokerstars from the blowout series events:

7858305.60-9111989.50=1253683.90 loss

So the change of ticket use especially after the huge loss in the first event was perhaps justified ( well maybe?) especially after the Kentucky 1 billion loss
