yah, so what's the reasoning on this anyway? Are Russian authorities trying to hurt pokerstars et al pocketbooks or their own people? Oh - perhaps they are 'protecting' their Russian people....they are getting good at doing this lately

It's a war on poker online.... Not just about Russia... Everyones following the states and the U.s need to get poker back up online.

Talk about being fcked situation.

Too much money is going overseas and the governments are catching on. simple it's all about money going out of the control. They don't want this obviously.

It looks like to me the extremes of this story may of been a lil exaggerated. Which I'm glad we need all the players online that we can get. I don't think we could handle a Russian BF or Canadian BF lol

poker stars has 50 million registered users, don't think the loss of Russian players is going to make much of a dent in the player pool. As to the point brought up in a post above, if Russia wants the site to quit providing services to the Russian people, but -P-S continues to do so, then why is the U.S.A blocked out? I think Russia has only stated it wants to block Russian people from gaining access to the site and has not actually told P-S to back off, but i wonder, what if say, Poker Stars said kiss our butt's, we ain't blocking nobody. What would the U.S.A or Russia do? Go to war over it? Wouldn't that be the berries.

Well, there's this little thing called a federal indictment (which is what happened for PokerStars in the US), where leaders in the company are then in danger of being arrested, and having their assets seized by the DOJ. I don't know if Russia has a similar system in place (I'm sure they do), but if so, they just haven't acted on it yet.

Well, stars is an American company and America are currently pushing the EU to impose various sanctions on Russia over the Crimea incident. That will affect all manner of Russian companies. Russia in turn are threatening to impose their own countermeasures against said states. The timing is very telling here. Also, the news article says "Numerous sites are being blocked", so not all sites? Just the ones not suiting the Russian agenda.

Don't just single out Russian players, there are alot of bad players out there from many different countries.
I'm from Canada and I have met horrible players who are also from Canada.
Considering the sheer size of Russia, you will always run into a large number of players where a large percentage are bad players just like any other Country.

As for them being locked out..................the fishing hole will become considerably smaller.:(

As far as I know, Russia only announced it will block PS in the near future, but has not actually done it.

So many countries are regulating pokersites atm.. blocking of sites going on all over the world.

And personally, I would be one happy guy when Russians cannot play on the same site as I do anymore :)

Any country being shut out of online poker is only bad news for the industry as a whole. How "good" or "bad" they are (lol @labeling an entire country of players) is irrelevant to the big picture.

I hope this gets resolved in a non black Friday way........:-(

In Russia, poker plays you.

Doesn't seem like there has been any changes at all. There is still plenty of Russian players in my games and in other games.

Somebody was blowing smoke IMHO.

Stars is not a US company, you best reread up on it.

I think they will find a way to play at PS (eg vpn servers). Russians cant be stopped if they want something, and if they want to play at PS, they will play at PS. :D
