It's good that players like him make a gesture like this. Also, he played a great tournament :)

He also let the door slam in one of the employees faces after bragging to her that he won 3 million, as he was leaving in one f his vlogs the other day, it really surprised me how rude it was. I mean at least hold the door for the lady lol.

yeah. i saw that too. it was pretty odd coming from a canadian. Or not since Negreanu became a US citizen. (not hating on americans).

If this is true then why does he continue to represent a business that doesn't have poker player's best interest at heart... instead continue to rape the players making many of the games unbeatable (especiallly for recreational players). And why does he stand by comments like 'More Rake is better for the players'? Guy seems pretty self-centered, narcissitic & pompous to me.

umm he represents pokerstars, so lots of the times the words coming out of his mouth were jammed down his throat first by his superiors ;)

when he says "better for poker" he means "better for pokerstars"

From what I read above seems that his 2nd place finish did disappoint him a bit. Sounds like he took it out on the tip and some bad manners leaving the place. Watching him heads up looked like he was ready to grind it out but could also see some of the fatigue setting in. His departure from small ball play to jam his stack in on the straight draw was not a move I am used to seeing from him. Might of worked if he was not up against a set. Anyway, $3,000,000 for 2nd place. Little over $1,000,000 goes to uncle sam. Take care of the swaps. Would guess he is paying $20,000 tip out of his end that maybe looks more like $1,600,000 take home. On another note he sure was watching D'negs so distracted with the hockey game while at the FT.

fatigue setting in, or would he just rather be at the hockey game cheering his own team on? lol

i cant blame him.. id be wanting to watch my franchise make history in its first year, too.. and id be satisfied with 2nd (3 mil? come on..)

During the Golden Knights hockey game Daniel lost something like 2 million in tournament chips. I noticed a difference in the quality of his thought process - he played very distracted during the hockey game. When the hockey game was over it didn't seem like Daniel ever got back into a poker rhythm.

On this night - imho Daniel decided to choose hockey and to ladder the best he could with his good stack size. That is his CHOICE and OK, it is just a choice! Daniel said in an interview a few days before the tournament, he would have to play the wizards of poker without the distraction of hockey if he wanted to win. Daniel made a decision to be distracted (on PokerGo we even hear him say "turn on the game, I won't be distracted" when later we saw him fold and say "just take it, I'm watching the game." That said, still great finish, but I think if he would have left the TV off, KidPoker could have delivered a tournament win!

I say it was more than fair.

When the stakes get that high, I don't think they can expect the same %.

I'd rather see him give the rest to charity than to the dealer.
Actually, I thought exactly the same. Nice to do a tip, but it should be somehow reasonable. And maybe really put the rest to charity. I guess/hope he will do as well from time to time.

Did you miss the part in my post that says "so why does he still represent pokerstars"?

He also let the door slam in one of the employees faces after bragging to her that he won 3 million,..... it really surprised me how rude it was. /QUOTE]

The only thing that surprises me about this ^ is that he did it while on camera. My personal experience with this guy is that he is full of himself and a huge narcissist. Maybe I caught him during bad moments or a bad day... but I don't think so as he was the chip leader in the tournament that day. I was invited to a promo thing with Gavin Smith and hung out with him and a few others for the day. Negreanu sat at our table during dinner break & other breaks as he was the last one of them remaining in the tourney. My impression of him... I don't think he even more than a word or two from other people at the table... & especially not from those who weren't famous in the pubic eye but wanted everyone to listen to every word that came out of his mouth. .. hey everybody it's all about ME!! Honestly I was disappointed. I thought it was cool meeting him at first but he's not what I'd hope to be. (he did sign my Fulltilt hat though... too cheap to give me a Stars one, so Gavin pulled out a Fulltilt hat and had Daniel sign it).
He's a great tournament player but I just don't think he is what so many think he is & I really don't think he cares about people playing online (aside from that it's a good thing because it lines his pockets).
This is just my impression from my experience. I'll also say that the rest of the 'pros' I met & hungout with that day were much different than him & I enjoyed meeting them all & was really impressed with all of them. (especially Gavin.... but also Brad Booth). Generous, friendly, easy-going, down-to-earth & going out of their way to help others.

Always tip the dealer. Great gesture of him! Will sign up to become a dealer in his next tournament 😁

I heard something interesting the other day along the lines of this.

“If you have a big win at the poker table in a casino it doesn’t matter how much you tip. There will always be someone at the table who thinks your tip was either too small or wasn’t generous enough. The best thing you can do is give a $10 tip at the table and openly offer the dealer to meet up with you after they’re shift for a coffee/ drink. From here you can give the dealer any amount of tip you think they deserve away from the table and everyone’s judgements. Not only that, now it’s considered a gift to the dealer and not a tip which means no tax deductions for them”

I doubt that you can give the dealer 20 thousand for a cup of coffee. It is hard to imagine this. As well as winning 3 million dollars)

Was a good tip, it’s hard to tip based on percentage when you win so much

I am not surprised that Daniel Negreanu gave a $20K tip. That does not at all surprise me. I will say why - later. What really surprised me were the indecent comments some players on this platform made towards Daniel. I am surprised that CardsChat has allowed them to stand.

I am not going to repeat these comments because they do not rise to the level of decency that I expect from myself, from the players on this platform and from its administrators. Those who have read them know what I am speaking about.

Later - Besides tipping dealers, Daniel has given to fairly new players from his own pocket the price of entry into tournaments in Las Vegas. Some entries were in the order of $2K, and he did not expect to get the money back. He has even given re-entry amounts to some of the same players because they had been bounced from their tournaments.

Daniel is not just a poker champion, he is a decent human being who should be treated by all players on this platform with the respect that he has earned on the tables and off...

I agree with this.
I use to like him when he was a stand up Canadian but now he is nothing more than a sellout.

You're entitled to your opinion. Prolly not a good 'bluff-catcher' I'm guessing.

It's a 'forum'... I'm pretty sure we're allowed to speak our truths. (as long as it follows forum rules).

Hi All,

i have just heard that Daniel Negreanu tipped $20,000 to the dealers out of his $3 million win, i think its a very decent thing he did..its not about his win, its about the man and i salute him for that.

Well done Daniel..a class act as ever

That man is my poker idol. His track record, a tactician and character is one of the best poker players in decades.
