It's interesting they chose to do this in the middle of the WSOP. My guess is Ivey and Dwan stood a better chance at winning more in this cash game than they would have at most bracelet events.
I think the one disappointment has been Ivey not playing the WSOP, which obviously he has done in the past. I am not aware most of the other players featured attend the WSOP as they are cash specialists. Matt Berkey would be the only exception, I believe.
One other issue with Ivey was he really did look a little distracted throughout (some speculation he was sports betting at the time), whereas Dwan looked relaxed yet well focused.
Interesting to note the viewership has continued to rise and as of now, the views of the two streams have reached 826,000, which is exceptional. Without getting too political it makes you wonder how many millions of views would be garnered for the WSOP so far if it was still free to air.
What will be really interesting and exciting is the European Poker Tour will recommence in Prague in December. This pre-Christmas stop for the tour is one of the favorites (the city providing a fantastic backdrop) and I guarantee the viewing figures will be through the roof.
Between streams such as Hustlers, the EPT starting up again and the WSOP ring events there should be some great poker coverage through the end of 2021.
