Should be a great game but i think Daniel will win he is great at heads up.

Seems like such a long silly feud. Only wish they were playing for more $$. HU4ROLLZ

I am so unreasonably psyched for this. I think Polk probably has the edge, but it's going to be a hell of a show if there's a way to watch their tables.

To me, it looks like this is mostly Doug taking shots at Daniel over the years. Daniel has never really engaged him in the back and forth. As for when they do play, Doug has the edge. If you read Daniel's blog (link is below), he makes the following points that I wanted to highlight here:

Doug's specialty is HUNL, Daniel hasn't really studied it in depth.
Doug's specialty is on the internet, cash game format, where blinds don't change.

You HAVE to think that Doug will have people watching Daniel's play and picking his game apart to give Doug an even bigger edge.

That being said, it should make for must-see Poker TV.

This will be a very interesting confrontation. I wonder who will take on the role of the obvious aggressor in this heads-up. I think it is the Hyper aggressive style that will bring success in this game, I am sure that the distance will be decent, since these two players will not agree to a quick denouement and will not want to admit their defeat.

Looking forward to it, seems like there’s more than just a poker title at stake, should make for an interesting match indeed

Will be an interesting story although the end results will be much less important as they don't really tell you something more than what happened between 2 poker opponents playing a specific format at a specific set of blinds for a set amount of hands. Daniel has always been a more likeable personality while Doug always seems to be a more polarizing figure who doesn't really seem to be trying to make the world a better place as his larger end game goal.

Odds are likely that Doug will win but I'll be cheering for Daniel.

I'm backing DNegs 100%, Polk's a chump.

Really hope to be able to watch!

Wonder if they are going to get staked, or use their own cash? Is their 'feud' for real, or is it a marketing ploy? Hope it isn't a long drawn-out event...

Timing is everything. If this match happened would have happened two years ago, then this would be super exciting. Now, I can only think why is this happening, and does it really matter now. I remember Doug leaving so why come back for an old feud with Dnegs. Just weird.

Don't think it'd be that interesting since doug isn't in the poker scene anymore but would love to see him annhilate negreanu.

lol , maybe Doug says sth about him , Daniel goes crazy and smash his teeth or break him an****y , you never know , now that Daniel has a built body , with or without testosterones , he is on tension , ready to go on berserk . Doug should take some precautions , hire some bodyguards , maybe let them wear t-shirts with slogans for the breaking teeth , bullying , a**l breaking thing , lol ....

I'm looking forward to this, as well. I guess we will have to wait till the WSOP online series has completed and stay tuned as to when this challenge will be scheduled - sounds like later in September to early October.

I believe daniel will be the better player by far but this is a heads up match witch in the end i think luck will play a big role in who wins. That said i would put my money on daniel i think Polk is washed up and out already.

The game is Polk's specialty so he should win. I have no doubt that Daniel will hire a coach and get up to speed fast to make it a good match. I'd bet on Polk but rooting for DNegs.

This should be fun to watch. I'm not really crazy about either of them but I would prefer to see Daniel win.. I wasn't sure if they said it's going to be live streamed? I guess we'll find out more when the date gets closer

I think Daniel is going to get smoked. Number 1 heads up player vs old school tournament and mixed game player. Not exactly a fair fight. I think Daniel should make half the hands duece to seven to make it an even battle. Otherwise I wouldn't bet on Daniel if you gave me 10-1 odds. 15-1 I'll put 50 bucs on Dnegs if anyone wants it. Only 1 person though I'm poor.

I'm surprised Doug is playing. Last I heard he was done with playing poker and was only going to focus on the teaching/business side of it.

A heads-up match is unlikely to establish a good relationship between Daniel Negreanu and Doug Polk. Perhaps it will give rise to new duels. Free live streaming is cool. Viewers will see a real battle when the structure and bids are finally determined.

Any word yet on when this will actually happened? Don't know if I've noticed any updates in this thread... not sure how much interest this will really get except for people closely involved in the poker world

This is not about establishing a good relationship between the two. Doug's calling out of Daniel over time isn't ever going to change, and Daniel doesn't even mention Doug's name when he's discussing the challenge on his podcast (DAT Poker Podcast). Good rapport between the two - NEVER GOING TO HAPPEN!!!

It won't be until at least October, as Daniel is busy playing the GG portion of the WSOP right now, and then once he's done, he's going to get coaching for this matchup.

Probably, but Daniel's no fool - he's going to get coaching, and mentioned on his Podcast that Phil Hellmuth and Mike Matusow are going to be his coaches (Hellmuth for the pre-flop portion) and Matusow for the River play. Daniel concedes that he's a big underdog to beat him, but I don't think he's going to get crushed either. Plus, Doug hasn't played much poker recently either and has now started taking offers on Twitter to play against anybody to practice for the upcoming match.

Daniel said himself that he hasn't played heads-up in about 10 years, going back to the time he was an ambassador for Wynn Casino, and was playing heads-up matches against all comers. He's going to need to catch up on current heads-up play to have a reasonable chance against Doug.

Should be an interesting match up, I give the edge to Doug Polk even though I think Daniel Negreanu has a chance. I think Polk will manage to twist the circumstances in his favor.

Neither of them are shrinking violets when it comes to promotion or publicity- I'd expect every drop to be wrung out (and then some) long before it actually happens- LOL.

The author's hope that this will put an end to this feud is drawing pretty dead. Daniel's never going to like Doug and Doug will never stop taking shots at Daniel (who doesn't even reciprocate, so it's not even like there's a back and forth to begin with).

This should be interesting, seems to me that Polk has a little edge because he is a HU specialist although he hasn’t play for a while, and then Daniel, is active but doesn’t play that format

Going to be awesome to watch. Daniel N. has always been one of my favorite if not my favorite poker player to watch. However, I remember Doug from the warcraft 3 rts scene before I even started playing poker. Used to be called T-rider and then WCGrider (world cyber games). I gotta pull for Doug in this match.

I just can’t get excited by this. Both characters are hard to love.
