I think that he's wrong. I think that you need a mix of personalities to make it entertaining and fun.

Daniel Negreanu has to keep an image as well as play world class opponents,

There will always be millions of critics, he cant really escape it nor do i think he wants to but imagine every hand played for the rest of your life with half a million observers having instant access and replays...

I think that is an enormous weight on any ones shoulders...

no one is perfect though now days any imperfection is blown up and turned into a nightmare,

So id say he has done a fantastic job and he is a great example of how a great many other people could be and should be.

I'm not a fan watching players winning by the skin of their teeth and then attacking the opponent telling him how foolish he was for sticking with king Jack and having wrote that in his book for fools like him to learn by then continue cussing the guy until he is no longer in site...

to be honest with you i can see why people get shot out casinos with bad winner attitudes lol

Daniel has a bit more humility.

Stop when the fun stops or when you suddenly realize every one has just seen what you did there!!:eek::cool::D

A winning player is bad for poker? how exactly? they are good for poker, if there are no winning players poker wouldnt be what it is today, its all about being a winner and thats good for poker, i do agree talking about ranges and ev and such in field where people come to play to enjoy themselves and have a nice time isnt fun for recreationals, not all winning players are like that if thats what he meant by it.

Daniel is a great poker player maybe one of the best that exists but he should apply this:

"Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and to remove all doubt".
ABRAHAM LINCOLN.

Winning is bad for poker is the most absurd thing I've heard from a poker player.

I think Daniel lost a lot of respect being the mouthpiece of the corporate driven 'more rake is better' campaign.
He will never regain the level of respect he had prior to this unless he is willing to publicly refute and reverse his position.

Come clean Daniel. Say they threw bags of money at you and that you're sorry and you will never compromise your integrity ever again and the people will love you and forgive you.

hahaha. We agree. But this comment actually pertains more to your screen name. Love it. My daughter's name is Ella. She's older now.... But she didn't sleep through the night until she was 3 years old. She'd wake me up crying in the middle of the night. To this day I still call her EllzBellz :)

First off, Daniel is a fantastic poker player and the reads he has made, no one can do. Phil Hellmuth even said on a Poker After Dark episode, when Daniel flopped a set and Eli Elezra turned a flush, Phil said watch Daniel make the right lay down and call Eli's hand. Which he did.

With that being said, I would have to disagree with most of what Daniel said in his post. If you act a little slower, who cares? You are trying to think. Especially if it's for a bigger amount of money. Quiet players are good players, they don't try to give info away. A nit is someone that is new to the game and learning. What's wrong with that??

And then Losing and Generous?? Yea that would make anyone want that person in their game.....

If you WATCH poker on TV. And you are somewhat new to the game, or curious about it. Or maybe you are just channel surfing and stopped for a moment. I hope the table has players like Daniel, Phil(s), Moneymaker/Gold, etc. And the list could go on .... Watch to love or hate (use less strong words if you prefer) a player - that's GOOD for poker. People watch, want to learn more. Maybe try playing online freerolls? Maybe hit the table at a local casino's 1/2, 1/3? All GOOD for poker.
CC is GOOD for poker.
Love him or hate him...Idiot or Genius. Daniel is GOOD for poker.
(imo -Love him, Genius)

I think he's right in terms of who you might want to sit down with at a table, admittedly I don't think constant chatter, especially from one individual is an optimal situation either.

I'm sure at the average poker table, there are people with all the traits, both good for the game and bad for the game. The loose players are definitely the players I want at my table though.

So a good player in his mind is someone who loses money, doesn't have a bad time doing it, and takes no time to act on a hand. These are players he wants to play against so he can make the most profit and max value. I can see why he would think this way.

A polarizing figure like Daniel Negreanu knows that when he opens his mouth, critics will be there ready to argue. So, Daniel tweeted characteristics of a poker player who is good and bad for poker, and some felt his comments were “arrogant” and out of line. What is your opinion of Daniel's list?

Daniel Negreanu Shares Five Things That Make a Player ‘Good’ and ‘Bad’ for Poker

I think what Daniel said about players being good for the game was pretty spot on. I don't think he was generalizing them as good or bad people per say. I think by being good for the game he meant from the popularizing of the game perspective. I believe people are much more likely to tune in to poker shows if the players are engaging and entertaining, which I think was his point. Actual players are going to watch the games no matter the banter at the table, watching more for the love of poker strategy and seeing the best perform at there top. Casual watchers are in it more for the personalities that play and seeing there interactions, the big money change hands, and possible feuds brewing. For the record I've been a big Negreanu fan for years so might be biased, but having said that I can't argue his points. Also for the record I think the winners and losers comments on the list were more for laugh value.

And still irritated at Daniel for this ...

Like many other posters in this thread, I agree with some of the 5 points he makes.

From time to time, I think Daniel is looking for a reaction and to possibly just get people talking whether the outcome is good OR bad.

The only thing I really agree with is haters make bad players... the rest is all part of a strategy a player choose when he/she plays his/her game. I can be very entertaining at a table and if I'm switched, I can totally change my attitude for X-Y-Z reasons.

But haters are really making bad players.. at all games!

I think he meant what he said, I don't agree that everyone has to play the same, but remember it is his opinion... he doesn't like to play with quiet players, etc. I don't understand how "winning" player is bad.. that kind of seems outlandish ?
Daniel, is one of my favorite players, so I am a little biased.

Daniels so extroverted and outspoken.

No doubt he's just bored with people being boring at the tables.

What he's said in that post totally contradicts what he says in his next.

It's just baffling that he would say something like that unless he's making an underlying jab at a specific person. jmho

Watching a lot of videos featuring Daniel on the table, he seems like a friendly kind of guy who would be fun to play against.
