Yeah that's crazy to have to physically go to another state to play online poker. Look at the bright side .... At least you have that option. I feel the same way about online poker as I do about Marijuana. Legalize it federally in the US, and tax/regulate it !!! There is soooooo much money to be made, and that money could go a long ways towards improving education, infrastructure, and multiple other areas.

I hear you man I second that

US Poker

We need stronger lobbying or a major political ally in Congress with strong platform support for us. Without that, attention to our beliefs appear to be of lesser importance than other interests. Federal politicians appear to have little interest, or something would, could and should be done.

Like in some areas of our country, it may mean more success by gaining interests from state politicians, since nobody else seems to listen to us. :hmmmm2::listen::damnmate:

Once there's someone on the congress that'd actually have interest in decriminalizing Poker it will be back in no time

It's very sad, not to have a country like the US outside the online poker scene. Poker loses a lot!

Can they be paid

They won't legalize anything they are not getting paid for.

If they dont do it with all states in one pool then its all a bust. The whole wsop site with 3 sites seem so unesciting from people I see streaming. I dunno we NEED SOME EXCITMENT... Flashy lobbies, Up to date software, I think in the US the casinos are too worried that they wont get that walk in traffic so online is a 2nd thought

Taxes and Internet Security

What's everyones thoughts on the possibility of the US once again allowing their Citizens to play on-line poker in all states?:fight:

Overtime each State may incorporate policies to allow online poker play and assign an authority over Online Poker.

Taxation is one reason and another is security. The US lacks any regulation for the most part. For example, if you use any poker site and have a problem with them paying you in America, there is almost nothing you can do legally. You would have to travel to get paid.

Nothing is wrong with Online poker. We must know there are inherent risk to doing anything online.

Some people feel it will never be allowed in the states again. I, however, disagree. We can already see progress in legalizing and regulating it in some states. Its not happening as quickly as we all would want it but slow and steady is better than not at all. Patience...

Its all about money. Casino and gambling groups don't want it allowed because if you can play from anywhere it'll severely hinder Casinos' ability to draw people into the building. Its a bummer how most of these come down to self serving financial decisions.

I keep seeing these posts and they are incorrect. The only state with laws specifically regarding poker online is the state of Washington. It's no longer illegal on the federal level

This is probably the question most commonly asked by new players. The short answer is yes, online poker is legal in the United States on the individual level. ... Most states don't have laws against online gambling, but in some states, such as Washington state, online gambling is a felony offense.

Just check your state's laws. Hell I live in Kansas, a very conservative state, and all gambling online is legal here

What @theothermj said is exactly correct. The Feds did not ban online poker, it outlawed US Banks from doing business with off-shore poker rooms.

Each State has their own laws about online poker.

Both correct. And patience is what we need. It will happen. And IMO, on an exponential scale when it does. Once the inter-state player pooling takes off, more and more States will jump on the bangwagon (except maybe the backward State of Washington).

Ohio is ready to jump on board, but is waiting to see what Pennsylvania does. Other States are teetering towards it as well. State Legislations move slow as an ice floe, but they do move.

I believe there’s more to this than. We know or have any idea. For example if you owned casinos in say south Florida would you rather have people in your casino , or sitting at home on your computer

I don't think it will be happening on a federal level considering Sheldon Adelson has been spending lots of money in campaign contributions to have GOP politicians push RAWA. I think it is better to have the states decide if its allowed. New Jersey, Maryland, Pennsylvania, and Nevada have legalized online gambling.

There is no federal law prohibiting online poker. Each state decides.

Does anyone use google anymore before they post or do they presume the topic is valid because someone wrote it? lol The change and it wasn't a change as much as a clarification- it was a federal court case and it was in 2011. This is why horses and dogs have been bet online in SOME states (Like Kansas ironically) since then.

There is no U.S. federal law against gambling online. On the federal level, gambling online is perfectly legal, because of the lack of a law against it. It's possible to run afoul of state law, but even there prosecution is extremely rare. So it is legal in US.

It's really not an individual a state is worried about. It's an organization, like an OTB has to be heavily licensed and taxed in Kansas so why bother. BetOnline and others have served US Online horse and greyhound racing since 2011 in states that allow it.

So if Florida (And I don't know...just an example) decided online gambling was illegal but chose to simulcast the races, a website in Kansas can open a link to a legal site and bet the dogs in Florida, from Kansas because online is legal in Kansas and simulcast is legal in both states. (most states actually).

If people really want to know there is ton of info out there, even legit sites that can you tell the rules and laws in your state

It really sucks. Do you think anyone has figured how to play from the US on poker stars? Or on PS NJ from another state? I wonder how much it would cost for a setup that works?
