I'm sure that some may end up getting addicted to online poker. Those who are predisposed to addictions of any kind should have built-in safeguards, either with limiting deposits, or just have a friend or loved one handle the money. If you are not playing poker for a living, then it is meant to be enjoyed. One cannot enjoy something that may jeopardize other areas of life.

I do not think I am addicted to poker, during the day I play about 6 hours, while doring dome some work on the computer.
I have never made a deposit to play poker, I have won everything by playing free tournaments, my biggest virtue is bank management, I think that is the main reason because I have not lost much money.

In my opinión, poker is addictive depending on how much is played and why it is played, if you play for a living, you will have to take it very seriously and stop playing when things are not coming out, even if you have the best strategies, This can ruin you as a professional player, but if you play for fun it will be more sporadic and for recreation.

Literally everything can be addictive, if you have a tendency for addiction.

I can't speak for everyone but there was a stretch where I found it very difficult to do anything but play. It can still be hard to stop playing a good game but back then it was any game I could find.
I think it's important to take a note before playing of when you are going to stop (for cash games anyway) I found this has helped me play too long.
I generally just play a bit of cash, and a few CC games a week. But it does not take up as much of my time as it used to.
I think it is important to have a good balance in life, especially when a rec player like most would be here.

Poker is addictive, I think it's obvious because besides fun is an adrenaline game, the point is safe with many control factors, circumstances, money and not losing your mind.

my wife says that I'm addicted to online poker and do not pay enough attention. After all, I began to try to play less online and remake her more attention.

Yes, of course anything can be addictive, even online poker. It all depends on your personality.

When I first started playing online poker I was definitely addicted. I would play cash games for hours and I'd forget to even eat.

I'm glad basically all poker sites now have an exclude option, so you can stop playing for a certain time period or at a certain buy in. I use the buy-in level exclude and it helps me a lot.

I think in the game of poker for money there is nothing good. Now it seems to me that I am far from addicted, because I do not like playing poker. But this is a dangerous thing, because the line between dependence and the normal state, just an illusion

gambling in general and online gambling in particular can certainly be considered addictive. But unlike many substance abuse situations, there isn't a real physical dependency aspect to gambling addiction. It's not like someone who is addicted to online poker is going to suffer debilitating headaches, cramps, or vomiting if they go cold turkey - if they do, this is a serious problem.

Some people seem to separate gambling from poker. Erick Lindgren had to go to gambling rehab so he could continue to play tournament poker and pay off his (addicted) gambling debts. I wonder if he still would play poker online if he were able to (maybe he does). There are actually a lot of questions I would like to ask Lindgren about the whole rehab thing.

So yeah, I think it's obvious that online poker can be addictive, but as long as you're not losing tons of money, it's just a simple (however difficult) solution of playing less.

Poker online is addicting. I lost my first girlfriend from it. I played all day and all night after work and on weekends. I never did anything with her only cause I ate and slept poker. So long story short had to stop playing online for awhile cause man did I pit on the weight. Drinking and smoking is all I did. Exercised for a month got into shape again meet a girl. And now I know not to do the same thing. I do pay attention to her and play poker but don't put poker first.

Absolutely

With the instant nature of online poker makes it highly addictive or the probability that it can become just so.

Having to book a ticket and travel to a casino and sit at a table is more of a deal so can cut out the type of addiction that can come with online poker.

A good life balance is key and playing for the right reasons not just for the money!

Still it can creep up on the best so questions should always be asked!

I think that as well as excitement in general, online poker is also part of the addiction.

Of course, poker like any other game has an addictive component. However, becoming an 'addict' depends on many factors: each person individually, their mental strength, personality, the reasons why they play, economic situation, time dedicated to them, etc. That's why I do not think there's anything wrong with poker itself, if a person becomes addicted it's not the fault of poker. Suppose that poker did not exist, that person would surely find an addiction elsewhere.

definitely online poker can be addictive, in my case I played a lot of sping & go tournaments sponsored by a company, the demand was so great that in 3 days I played up to 500 tournaments and more, something that caused me sleep problems, I went to bed late and I would stop early to just meet the goal. with the day I realized that I was heading to an abyss and I took the decision to retire from the company and thanks to GOD I have not felt

I play poker for a long time, and I can say that I'm not addicted from poker, І can stop in time.
I'm not often play poker last times,so my passion for poker decreases.

Oh, yes, it can definitely be addicting. I went through a time, about 15 years ago now, when I was on the road a lot for work and I was playing regularly every evening. It was my main source of evening entertainment and I was relatively new to online poker -- had played here & there in casinos though, so I thought I could understand online strategy with no hitches. I lost about $3,000 total over the course of a year and was quite addicted -- even more so addicted to the idea of "winning back" the current losses. There would be good weeks followed by bad days and the bad days more than overran the good weeks.

I finished the out-of-state work assignment and when I was back on home turf, I took a long break from online poker. I played here & there (lots of casinos in Louisiana!) in live games when my friends & I drove into New Orleans, but nothing regular. About 2 years ago, I started playing online poker for fun. Very different this time around with that bit of experience (and years) behind me.
