(To OP) The first step is to change the negative in life with poor attitude at the table, drugs, or alcohol. Congrats on make a change to a positive attitude.

I usually ignore chat except to mark someone with a poor attitude. I would figure that person is acceptable to go on tilt.

Glad you're changing your tune a great attitude goes a long way in life

Glad u have realized it’s not good to mistreat others at the table. I have no respect for anyone that needs to bully others around. Some of the things I see in chat box is horrible. I am certain most wouldn’t dare speak that way if they were not hidden behind a computer.

Thank you guys.

Definitely haven't been a chat box jerk anymore.
Even though sometimes I feel like it.

But now I've been more aware about it and when I sense the need to type something xtoopid I check myself and realize I might be tilting and work on focusing on the game instead of a specific event on it.

Definitely working on sticking with the big picture instead of an isolated event.

This is kind of a life lesson haha.

Phil Helmuth is certainly a great example of how not to act at a poker table, and how not to control your mental game. I think, he have gotten better over the years, but around a decade ago he was the biggest loser on the two seasons of PokerStars "big game". And while he got unlucky in some spots a lot of this was due to a series of, what can only be described as bad tilted calls. Actually this whole series is still worth watching today for both entertainment and education, and its all available for free on Youtube :)

Haha... He just got his 16th wsop bracelet.

I have seen these and I'm thinking on going back to it once more.

Great example of a bad example haha.

Thanks brother.

Actually pokerstars just made a new compilation of him losing and tilting on "The Big Game". Definitely worth watching, if you have a quick 110 minutes to spend :)

I always play without the chat box open. Better to focus on my decision and not get caught up in things not relevant to my play.

No. Bringing others down just for your own benefit isn’t right. Reconsider.

Earlier, when I started playing, I also often did this, I wrote various unpleasant things in the chat to somehow hurt the opponent, especially after a stupid loss, when I lost to an opponent with a garbage hand, yes, it was unpleasant, now it is of course also unpleasant)), but now I react calmly to such things.
When you play online poker and even for real money, it's better to hide or disable the chat altogether.

Yesterday i played on the casino org 50 freeroll which i dont really like due to poor payouts and the players pool behaviour is way too “interesting” to me. I played on 3 other games at the same time so it was okay.

I was doing well that time in first 15 or so and everything was leading to even better results..
then one of the players after one of my actions said “hecendorfer gay”
Also noted “idiots” for who i wasnt sure…
The bully worked well got me angry that can happen and i was eliminated myself in few minutes. The place 51 or so.
Every time when you are saying a bit bully is okay you are breaching someone elses HUMAN RIGHT.
This is what you support here when you say online bully is a bit aggression.
Effective agression in poker has many ways betting out your opponent stealing their blinds etc.
Verbal abuse is never a bit of effective agression and nothing that you can laugh on or be proud of.
Hopefully everyone is receiving the message.

Never tried to bully players...it wouldn't work on me. Why would you care what some unknown jerk thinks about your play. I laugh at them (to myself).

This is not good

I personally have never done this, but I admire your redemptive attitude.

Don't get into a chat war, the best thing is to out bully them with your bets, When they raise preflop, 3 bet them. When they cbet, raise them IP or check raise them oop.

One of the most (if not the single most) important aspects of a successful poker strategy is having a good, balanced, positive, healthy, logical and unemotional mindset.
...

This is good stuff right here folks. Poker gold.

In this situation, as in all others, one thing is very important! Try to look at yourself from the outside and evaluate your actions from a neutral point of view. People are different, some like it, humiliate others, and make them feel bad, others vice versa. it is possible to fight this, but the problem is that each person automatically tries to find any reason to justify himself and his actions, even if it is clear from the outside that the attempt to justify is ridiculous, the person usually does not notice this. In your case, you focused on your actions and analyzed your actions, it's impressive, not every person is capable of this, my respect to you for this. As a rule, I simply ignore statements addressed to me online, since insulting or insulting a person on the Internet is very easy and practically not punishable

I never did this because I didn’t understand what advantages it gives, maybe it gives an opportunity to win the hand or gives a plus to morale. I think it's useless to write insulting messages to someone.

I must be the only person on Earth who thinks poker bullies are hilarious. Some peeps can get remarkably creative and funny with their insults, others not so much. I don't view them as evil or anything of that kind, as they see this behavior as part of their game strategy, and sometimes it can work out for the best for them. If I happen to be on the receiving end however, it only motivates me to play more rationally and consciously.
