However the fact remains the majority of poker players are losing. Estimates vary, but around five percent are winning enough to enjoy an appreciable side income, with most of those not classifying as professionals. By far the majority convince themselves they can be winning players, yet few succeed and that should give people more pause to think than it does.
So ironically if a losing player uses the idea poker sites are rigged to rid himself or herself of poker that would appear to be a positive. Because if the estimates are correct in that most are losing players, would that not indicate a certain level of self-delusion found in the majority? They are the ones returning to the tables to play time and again and lose more money.
You make it sound like, its some sort of personal tragedy, every time a person loses money in (online) poker, and that people should not play, unless they are sure proven winners. But most people, who play online, play micro or low stakes games, where losses dont really have a significant monetary impact on them.
And there are at least some, who play in a truly recreational way. They are just looking to have fun and hoping to get lucky. And them losing some money on the poker tables is hardly more tragic than them losing money on sports betting, casino games or lottery tickets. Or spending the same money on smoking, drinking or going out with friends.
The people, who whine in poker forums about their latest bad beat and "rigged poker sites", are probably a rather small minority of losing players. But of course they are the ones, we tend to hear from, because the other losing players dont even come here. And for this small group of players quitting is probably the best idea. The dont have the mentality, which is needed to become a winning player, and they are obviously not enjoying to play either.
