I used to play back in the early 2000's before it was banned in the US. I was from Washington State at the time. In the last year I have relocated to Ecuador. I've tried setting up a poker stars account using a VPN but it's still saying I can't because of my location. Anyone have suggestions?

It's not a lot of weight. You sign up for the tournament and start playing.

if you decide to play poker again I think you haven't played for a long time and you should start with free tournaments after moving to the small blind and so on

Good morning.I think there is no restrictions at all to play on Stars from that country. You could send an e-mail to the support explaining them that now you are living in that country and want to create an account.in order to play poker again.I don´t understand why you are using VPN if you are living in another country.Ihope you can play on Stars very soon , mate

If you have made the pokerstars account in one country and then move to another country, you must notify PokerStars or have this verified, otherwise what was previously valid for that country will remain valid.

I think you only need to contact PS support and explain that you move to another country. They may request a proof of adress like a credit card bill, but they usually are a very reasonable poker room.

My mistake was trying to sign up from my phone instead of the laptop. Thank you for the replies and this thread is complete now.

This is not a problem of it being disallowed in Ecuador. There are lots of Ecuadorian poker players playing legitimately from Ecuador.
The issue is that you are tryng to use a US account in Ecuador. Doesn't matter if you use a VPN...the problem is the US account.
You can either notify Poker Stars that you have relocated to a poker friendly nation... or you can simply create a new account with your new location details.
Best of luck!
Cheers,
JT

I'm not sure if it helps you but I can tell you how I managed to play Pokerstars in a locked country.
I entered my data in a country accessible to Pokerstars and of course showed my corresponding passport and was then able to play anywhere in the world with a VPN. real money of course.

Check which sites operate in Ecuador, and dont use VPN to attempt to hide your location. If you manage to successfully sign up, it can lead to your account being banned later and funds confiscated, since you are breaking the TOS in a serious way. I dont remember seeing players from Ecuador on PokerStars, so its quite possible, they dont operate there. In that case your best option might be an unregulated site like ACR. They accept players from nearly everywhere in the world.

Maybe PokerStars doesn't allow people to play using a VPN.
