The only trick is to be patient and disciplined. It is difficult, of course you can always play and count on luck, but players who have serious intentions and long-term perspectives are always patient and disciplined.

Find a game you can beat and play good cards in position.

There are no tricks.
Patience and good observation of the players at your table.
A bit of preflop hand selection and position thinking.
Then you can try to use this information in conjunction with your cards,
to make some chips in the right spots.

I prefer myself step 3 ..but the main goal should be , evry time you start playing a poker tournament , to get in the prizes and then take it step by step
