I know, sounds a bit ridiculous, or even snooty somehow but…I have a specific pair of glasses I have just for live Poker Tournaments. Not talking sunglasses, just regular prescription glasses, the ones that feel perfect for the game. I do have a pair of prescription sunglasses for Final Table use (still haven’t used them,…although I should)

The idea of the perfect glasses isn’t so you can necessarily see better, but just how you feel while playing a poker tournament.

Anyone else have their favorite poker glasses for live games?:)

Cmon, try a pair of Zenni optical basic glasses for 10 bucks (which I own like 5 of) vs quality Ray Bans! I can tell you all day how much better I feel playing poker with legit Ray-Bans lol

Compared to say, not bathing or changing your lucky underwear as long as your alive in a tourney, seems harmless enough.

I have separate glasses for distance and reading, so I'm never sure which ones to bring to the table. Depending on table position, I sometimes have trouble seeing the flop, and I have played A,4 lie a pocket pair of aces...so, I need both.

Single vision so far for me, but that won't last forever I am sure!

There is a problem here. Unless you have progressives, I think the "medium vision" of no glasses is the way to go, because progressives cost big $$.

Bro, I honestly don't know, I am in complete denial about having any option, just going with how I see things lol....So far these single vision frames...do the trick.

Are these glasses good?

Is that what you use? If so, cool. Let's hear about how it works out for you.

BTW
If you know of anyone that is actually mature and can actually talk about reality that can actually reply to this topic on this server (that, doesn't sound like a complete idiot) let me know:)

If you talk shit, back it up, otherwise, why talk shit?
I need glasses for near (<2 feet) and distance (>10 feet). Poker, for me, is a 3-6 foot game. So for me, it's no glasses are best unless progressives are better. I'll never know because progressives are too expensive.

Had it, with degree, but unfortunately it broke, but what I have, it's not very clear

If you can afford having a pair just for poker, have the doctor measure your eyes for 3'-6'. I know shooters who have had it done so they can clearly see the front sight on a handgun or rifle. That isn't as far as you need but the doctor was able to measure for that distance, so they should be able to do it for yours. Ask your doctor if he or she can do it, if not let me know and I'll see if I can find someone in Montreal who can suggest one.

I just wear my regular ones, but if the ones you have make you feel better about the game that is a big plus. It is a confidence builder and that will always help you to play your best. For me, dressing nicely makes me feel better about myself while playing. :)

I appreciate the advice. But it's important to realize that I (and many others) don't need glasses for poker. Even online, I can always just push my monitor a couple inches farther away. When it falls off the back of my desk, I'll think about using an enlarged screen/bigger monitor. Spending money on streamlining the look (and perhaps acuity of perception) of my live poker game is not really an option I have ever considered nor foresee considering. Finding a way to lower the rake at the nearest live poker venue, now that would help my game.

When I eventually have trouble seeing everything at a live poker table, my first fix will be bifocals. If those aren't conveniently affordable at that time, I may go Marcel Luske:

I don't wear glasses. I have pretty good eyesight and besides I only play online and usually at night so I don't need glasses. But probably in a live game, at a table with real opponents, sunglasses wouldn't bother me :)

Sorry my attempt at humor isn’t funny I wasn’t really being insulting, I’m on pain meds for a tooth issue and was real out of it so I apologize for the awkward attempt at humor last night.

Not complaining, just what’s goin on..specialists are insanely expensive..whatever you do don’t chew on pens!

Man, I will say, I did shove thinking I had a flush when it was a club on the River lol …the “non intentional” bluff worked there … but yeah, ‘vision’…progressives solve that? The ol head turn to see the board properly? Sigh
