Okay I am trying just that, I am back at the $.01/$.02 level, until I can build a bankroll.

My buddies say they think I have to many open tells for live because I react to everything and wear my heart on a sleeve.

0 emotion is necessary at any live game. That’s a must. You will get crushed at your home games if you can’t curb that.

I prefer playing live poker. I feel a little bit more confident. The only thing are the higher blinds^^

I know, just lost a $10 buy in at a home game and one of the guys folded to my bet, he said I think Lloyd has a good hand.

I am going to be honost, I hate playing at the Casino's those guys there are sharks, and I am an open book, like putting a gold fish in a Parahna tank, I don't have a chance and when I get a hand they know when to fold. I bet they raise, I call they re-raise, to hell with those Casino Poker Sharks. I am going to stick to playing online, if the sharks start swarming or loiking to feast, I can easily go to another room, or another site, I dont have to sit there and let them eat me alive, bite after bite.

I can click and move to a pond where the liittle fishes like myself swim.

I almost wanted to just go all in every hand to see if they would call and I perhaps I get lucky, that is one of my donk moves to slow the sharks down. I just can't handle the tells and nuances that those player have, they are people readers.

Like trying alot of new things most people are somewhat apprehensive and... if the outcome is not very pleasant only adds to an overall negative experience. I would suggest this, spend some time watching some of the live tables at your buy in. You could find a table that you might be more relaxed in given the players at the table. Even if you dont find a table you like you might find the experience beneficial to how players react and play.
Just a thought...

I never thought about doing that, watching live play and finding a table full of fish like me instead of sharks.

Great advice!

Majority of live $1/$2 players are the same as .01/.02 players online. If you can beat 2nl online, you can beat 200nl live. Honestly, majority of live 200nl players are soft ATMs and basic ABC play will net you a profit.
It's always venue dependent, but I've found this to be the case just about everywhere. Last month, went to a furry convention where there was also a big B&M casino. Spent Saturday playing 200NL where it was just a case of make a good hand, get paid. Pretty much paid for the whole convention despite a long grind of a session.

As for the OP's problem, is he confusing "sharks" with LAG-tards? He's got three choices here:

1) Leave a table where he's not comfortable. There's no dishonor in that.

2) Nit it up and hope they're careless enough to pay off. That's something I see all the time, both live and on-line: the nittiest nit's sitting behind EEEEEEEMORMOUS stacks that he wasn't ntitled to win. Makes no difference if this guy hasn't played a hand in a half-dozen or more orbits, doesn't matter he's just made his first 3! in four hours, the fish still pay off when it's obvious he's finally picked up the nutz.

3) Embrace the variance and widen his 3! and 4! ranges to match theirs, just not quite so much. I've seen LAG-tards get more aggressive when challenged. Just keep widening your ranges until they're going AI with ATC and stack 'em.

with huds, collusion, bots, and super users I think online is a much more dangerous ocean to swim in. Add to that the fact that online seems to be a lot tougher to master I'd maybe retry your local casino. Online player pools seem to be much harder than live i.m.o. Just find that soft table and crush some drunk recs. lol

Don't give up. You should try again and keep an open mind about who the is the very best player at the table is and who is somebody you can beat is. Avoid pots with the best player and try to be one on one with the player you can beat. Live poker is like paying for College when you first go your paying for it, but after a short while the knowledge you receive will be the reward that you paid for.

There has been a few more casinoes that open aroound here, perhaps I could give it one more try and try to hide my emotions a bit better. Those sharks always tear me a new butthole and I hate to keep feeding them my buns, because they are hungry, if they smell one iota of blood or sweat from me, its like they all start teaming up on me.

I am going to have to try and go nitty with them then! Perhaps I can try to hold my own, besides I like those cool casino perks they give you free meals and rooms when you rack up the points.

I find the play at the casino a little easier to read. Maybe because the stakes tend to be a bit higher? I do try to avoid the "regular" players though. Those old goodfellows looking guys have more money and balls than I do in general. lol

the last time I played at a casino I was BB, I flop a house with 96 off suit. no pre flop raise I went all in after sitting at the table for an hour folding. I go all in $50 the guy with $300 calls me and we flip cards he has k9 so has a set of 9s with his king. I have him but once turn came it was a king so he had me now then to spike it even more another king came. left that night mad and I had no luck what so ever. never went back to a casino again.

Either your card is written on your face or you play with rivals who are in collusion with each other. In any case, you should not play there.

I prefer live casino play to almost anywhere else that I've ever played. Other than the speed of online play, I don't prefer it.

I'm not sure what your poker aspirations are, but identifying the problem is the first step. If you are just playing for fun in your spare time online, then great and keep it up.

If you want to improve at poker, then you might have to rethink not playing live. IMO, most low stakes online is tougher then 1/3 or 2/5 live. So I play online to get better, and live to make money. It all depends on what your poker goals are.
