I try not to talk, and play exclusively according to the card and the opponent's actions. However, some pay attention to the gestures of opponents, reddening of the face and other signs. Does this make sense?

If there is a no talking rule I stay quiet because of the rules, if not, I almost always ask questions if I am in a tough spot lol. I can read a ton off someone just by asking them questions and seeing how they react to the questions lol

That, and I am a real good sport, if I shove all in and some calls I always say good luck or if they win the hand I always say nice hand (or tap the felt which gestures nice hand). Or let’s say I shove pocket aces and they call with KK, I always say well you may hit a king! I just like to keep things positive, that and what’s the point of tilting when it’s just variance, best to just have fun.

The first thing I do if people are talking is I listen. I probably do more listening than talking however I will use talking to my advantage. One guy that I played with a lot, we played dailies everyday at a local room. A lot of time him and I would banter back and forth mostly nonsense chatter or how one of us was so much better than the other or whatever. We would do this if we notice people at the table were getting bothered or distracted by it. You may not like it but it was a tactic that helped gain us both an advantage. I never was disrespectful or mean to others because to me that is crossing the line.

I only play online and I don't care about gesturing or red faces of my opponents :)
But apparently in a live game, the redness of the face can indicate increased blood pressure :)

chatting is for live poker , when you may have a long wait for good hands . online the action is fast and you can play many tables if you want . several online poker rooms have abolished table talk entirely .

I always thought that conversation was apart of the game 6,8,or 9 people sitting around a table not saying a word to each other now that would be just weird. I've been playing poker for close to 40 years and i can't say i have sat at a table where no one had a conversation of some kind, nor have i ever play a game with the no talk rule .

It’s the rule of No talking during a hand. It makes a lot of sense, especially if a lot of money is involved.

If you mean live poker, then even very much so. A person always gets excited with a very good card and thus betrays himself with his usual movements. I played live only as a kid and then I saw movies about poker.

Personally I've never seen an opponents face go red on pokerstars 🤷

I do talk prior to the game starting but once the cards are dealt I am very silent. It dont not meant I wont talk but I am concentration on the game at hand. This said one thing I do do is listen. You can pick up a lot more information than people realize this way. My favorite thing is listening to bad beat stores. Now before you stop reading this give it a sec. The reason I like them is many times you can gain valuable information from the players. You will hear them and know there errors at times or there thought process during the and that can be super helpful in the future.

Table with one or two guy who only came to drink, local and not local market sellers, these old stud-timers dont speak to you even you speak to them, and then us and some other youngsters from near towns. "Casino" was this old pool hall and all take a place this small town here in finland,150000 people or so. 20e rebyes and sometimes 100e freezouts, cash games on the side of course and i think at the best, if you win 20e rebuy you win like 700-800e... :)

There was some face expression but i could not tell.

At live tables you look a lot at the attitudes and gestures of your opponents. Online that is impossible, but in the same way I do not speak to them or transmit information about my game.

I generally won't talk to someone during a hand I'm involved with it best to just remain neutral as it could cost you money if you start talking or answering an opponents questions. When out of a hand I engage in small talk occasionally and I listening and observe my opponents more than I talk. IMO anyone can handle small talk, for example when you engage in small talk in between hands you can find out a lot about your opponents; like where they come from, what poker books and videos etc they like, poker players they follow this can tell you something about their style of play. I'm suprised at some of the information opponents make known to you if you let them talk.

sometimes if you see an opponent, he can tell you a lot, his facial expressions or face or his actions give you a lot of information so you need to use it, but the main thing is that you do not impersonate yourself and give a lot of information about yourself

Live poker is a social game. You usually have a lot of time waiting for good cards, and many people prefer to pass this time by chatting. But chatter at the poker table can be more than just entertainment. In the right hands, it can be an effective tool to get the information you need to make the right decision.Only a small percentage of players can competently use chatter. And this has the opposite property - if you do not know how to manipulate opponents, and are not able to keep your mouth shut, you can easily impersonate yourself. If you want to talk, do it on your own.If you can't carry on a conversation as casually with a bluff as you can with the nuts, don't even start chatting. Otherwise, you will be an open book to your opponents.

I only play online, and I don't pay attention to what my opponents are talking about. Focus is more important than talk.
