I don't know if anybody is close to Indiana, I'm about 3 hours away, but they are holding a monthly $10,000 freeroll. Then about two weeks before the wsop Circuit Event they are holding an even bigger one.

There's one free roll poker tournament each month throughout the summer:
July 22
August 17
September 14

I just found this out on Monday by checking their website so I missed the first one, however I'm going to attend the August 17th, and the September 14th. Then I'll probably go to the $25,000 freeroll before I play my circuit event.

http://www.harrahs.com/EventsDetail.do?locationCode=UEL&detailName=free-roll-detail-detail&eventTitle=Free%20Roll%20Poker%20Tournaments

I've checked some of the other casinos that Harrah's owns, and the other Caesars Palace sites and I don't know if they are being held everywhere or not.

Who is close enough to come join me at the Caesars in Indiana????

I'm in Michigan also, Mapquest tells me 6 hours and 40 minutes. Probably too long for me to drive.

OMG, you've literally found the furtherest point in IN for me to go to. I live outside Chicago (which is the Northwest corner of IN and this place is in the Southeast corner). Doh. 5.5 hours is a long way to go to line up to hope to get a ticket and hope that it is in the right range...and to do this at 6AM and not play until 3PM seems a bit much. If it was anywhere closer in IN, I'd probably meet you there.

I know I realy wish that it was closer. I go to Agrosy and the Grand Victoria and they are only 1 and 1/2 hours away. This is like driving there and home, which sucks.

I called them agian and asked about what time should I get there? The guy told me that Sunday they handed out 500 tickets in 18 minutes! So he suggested that I get there early. I take it that 500 is the max number of players so I would think that the top 20 maybe 30 pay?? I'm not sure I didn't ask that.

Here is my plan.....Since its only 3 hours away I'm not going to get a room and stay. I have a few people from town interested in playing, but the chances of them going are slim to none!! So I'm going to close shop early Thursday and go to bed about 5 or 6, but no latter than 8. I'm going to get up around 1:00am and leave by 2:00am. This will get me there around 5:00am, if I leave at 1:00 or 1:30 I will be there a little bit earlier. I'm then going to get my ticket, which I'll have to wait another 5 hours just to register, so I'm going to hit up a Bob Evans or something and eat a nice breakfast, go back and register. Then I have no clue what I'm going to do! lol I'll have another 4 hours to kill. So I might sit down and warm up and play some cards at a table somewhere.

Depending on who goes with me and how well I do and if I cash I will be staying the night. If nobody from town goes with me and I cash they have a $200+20 WSOP Qualifier on Saturday that I will play in.

Well I just maped the nearest Bob Evans and its in Kentuky, which isn't bad, but the only way to ge to Kentuky from the Casino is to go all the way North, then cut over on the only bridge lol....Then back down. If they would just put up a bridge right next to the town it would take 10 minutes.

HAHA I found a Cracker Barrel close, that will be my choice!

Also as of 2000 the Census in Elizabeth, IN was 200 people!! This place is in the middle of nowhere!!

Only 3 days and 12 hours before I leave!!!!

Plans are now a little different! There are three of us from town going. We are meeting here at my house and probably leaving around 11:00pm, which will get us there around 3:00 or 4:00am. We are going to start playing a cash game and what not untill 6:00am, when they are passing out tickets. Then we are heading to Cracker Barrel, which is 40 minutes away (this will help kill time, not to mention its the closest place). Come back and register at 11am, then sit back down at another cash game or go play something like blackjack or something along those lines. Then by 3:00pm we will be playing in the tournament.

My buddy turns 21 tomorrow, so I told him he has to go and I'll buy him a beer or two!! :). Plus he is an excellent poker player!

Dusty - Where do you live? I live in Chillicothe.
Argosy is one of my favorite Casino's in Indiana. I went to Argosy and the Grand Victoria in March and out of the two Argosy had a better poker room I thought and more of a variety of poker games.
They have a Sunday shootout and a couple of other daily tournaments that are really good.
If you get a chance, go to Belterra and play there as well, I heard they are the biggest boat and one of the best.

Hm, I am from Indianapolis but I have something going on this Friday. However, I don't think there is any way I can make it happen as long as they keep opening registration at 6 am on Friday.

On another thought I think my company has a client in that county so maybe I can make something happen at some point.

Well that was a blast!!!

Here is my story on my trip. (Kind of long, but oh well)

Basically we left Ohio at around 11pm and arrived to the Casino at around 3:30. We 2 hours to spare and decided to sit down at a Hold em Limit 2-4-4-8 table. (For those that don't know the SB - $1/BB - $2, min. bet after flop - $4, river min. bet - $4 and the river is $8, betting is capped after 4 raises.). I sat down the first time with $50 and lost around $20 when we got up to stand in line for the tickets for the touney. We started standing in line around 5:00 and was first in line. Come to find out, everybody in the poker pit that was playing got their ticket first, if I knew that the three of us wouldn't have stood up..OH well...Within 15 minutes of us standing in line there was about 400 people behind us.

We got out tickets and went to Cracker Barrell and ate, then we came back to eat and got back to the casino around 8am and sat back down at a 2-4-4-8 table. This time I sat down with $100 and within 30 minutes I had about $300 in front of me.

They announced a one table sat. tourney, which was a SNG that was a $35 buy-in and first place took all, which was $250.
This tourney started out with $500 in chips which was 4 black $100 chips and 4 $25 green chips. I knocked out 7 of the 9 other people at our table and was heads up with this guy that almost got DQ'd for standing up when he got mad and grabbing his chips and taking them off the table. I ended up heads up with this guy and we changed chip lead probably 8 times. I should have split the pot with him when I was ahead by almost 70%. He ended up winning with a flush on the river and knocked me out.
We had almost 30 people standing around our table watching us. It felt pretty good to have a crowd watching a game I was playing.

3:00 came and it was tourney time. 600 people entered the tournament. They let 400 play while the other 200 were alternates and were placed in the tournament when somebody got knocked out. Which only took about 40 minutes for all the alternates to enter.

I had my ups and downs and by the time we were down to 4 tables I counted out my stack and had around $17,000 and was second in chips on my table. Agian we had another crowd watching us because everytime somebody was moved from anoter table to ours, almost three hands later they were knocked out by one of us. Only three of the original people at our table stayed in while knocking out the others. This older gentlemen sat down at our table and was really upsetting our dealer, for the fact that he couldn't hear for one, and secondly he couldn't make desicions or count out his chips. Every hand the dealer had to almost yell at him for him to hear and the dealer had to count out his chips to call and grab his chips for the antes.

The hand I got knocked out on:

I had a guy to my right go all in for half of my stack, I looked down and had A 10 of Diamonds so I called, the older guy called as well. Note this was a $6,000 call with no money invested on this guy. The flop came 8 5 2 rainbow. I pushed all in to get the old guy out, he calls my bet which was almost $8,000, the guy to my right turns over KJ off, so I had him beat, the old guy pulls over 8 5.....I was SOOOOOOO pissed that he called with 8 5. He had NO clue what he was doing at all and made the dumbest call ever.
I walked away and was ready to leave.
Needless to say I finished in the top 35 out of 600. I figured more places would have paid out, but only the top 3 paid.
1st - $10,000
2nd - $3,000
3rd - $1,000

I had a blast, I don't know if I'm going to next months. I might if I get a room and stay, this way I don't have to drive 3.5 hours and wait 8 more to play.
I am going to go play in the WSOP Circuit event I'm sure.

Nice trip report. Though I have to say (after reading all the details) that there is no way in hell I would invest that much time and effort to play in a 600 person tourney that pays 3 spots. I'd rather slam my hand in a sliding glass door.

But still a great report, thanks for sharing it.

Yeah I didn't expect it to ony pay 3 places, when I found that out I was very dissapointed and wished I didn't drive almost 4 hours lol....Oh well I was there and it was fun, made some money at the cash games....

I don't like the structure of chips though. You start out with $1500 in chips and they are as follows:
4 Black $100
4 Green $25
1 Pinkish $1000 chip
1 Blue $500 chip *Optional $5 re-buy/add on.

They said the WSOP circuit event they hold is the same setup, but the blinds are 30 minutes instead of 10 minutes. I just don't like starting out with 10 chips, makes me feel like I can't do much with them lol....And at least if I play in it and place in the top 30 I'll get paid!

Well they must really suck in Indiana for you to make $200 in 30 minutes playing 2/4 limit. I mean that's awesome for you, but that's pretty crazy and doesn't sound like the 2/4 I've seen in AC.

Out of the three tables I played at, two of them were pretty loose.

All of the tables had auto shufflers, one table I was at three people in a row had JQ and won with them. Jacks were really hott at that table. I would say 10 out of every 15 hands somebody had a Jack and 9 out of every 10 hands on that table with the jack won!
