Playing as much as possible and seeing as many hands as possible, results in so many scenarios that I can assess different play options for them. The more play i get in, the better i feel i am getting.

I agree that it is necessary to study as many relevant sources as regards poker, but it is best advancing in practice by playing poker.

Listening to myself, playing overly conservatively, and knowing if my gut thinks I might be beat, I must be. Following and trusting the process, not being results orientated.

For me, live play helped my online play and vice versa. A lot of traits, habits and patterns transfer over to the online space, even if they're less obvious. And the math and speed of online play allows you to process things rapidly then focus on the people, which is good for live play. Plus the hands per hour helps a lot too.

Find some small buyin house games, join a local poker club where they may use play chips but take it seriously for a "end of season" entry to something real or a prize of some kind - I won a 70" plasma screen when those where a thing (showing my age.) When you feel like getting really wet, goto a casino and try and roll with the big boys and girls. They'll humble you really quickly but you'll learn more there than anywhere else, books included. Just my opinion.

Correct friends, books, poker tutorials help you improve your poker knowledge. But when you get to the game table, it's something else. If we were to win all those who have read and learned about poker, then who else would lose? :)

So yes, fear is the bigest drawback in poker

The Internet.

Okay so when I say "single most thing" I don't mean reviewing your hand histories or playing. I mean something like a book you read, a forum you read, watching poker streamers, watching poker on TV, your dad etc etc.

I'm just curious, the reason being is because when I get deep into studying poker I actually find I waste a lot of time downloading loads of books, or sometimes I even watch videos repeatedly by accident cause I forgot I already watched it ages ago.

So back to the top, what has helped your poker game the most. If there is more than one thing, just shout.

The Internet.
((final answer))

All you need to know is on the internet......all of it.

"Playing hands" to gain experience......being disallowed in the discription,
my number one "HELP" thing is the internet.

Without the internet...none of us would be here.

By far and away what's most improved my game, as simple as it is, is playing more poker. Experience is invaluable in this game and learning from your mistakes.

Beyond that, I'd say in my current state it's been watching streamers on Twitch. There are some great streamers that talk about their hands, analyze their play and answer viewer questions. I've learned a ton throwing this up in the background while I'm in early stages of tourney or just relaxing at my computer not playing.

the main thing that improved my game even though was a long time ago now was printing out the starting hands square and colouring my ranges. green for always play, yellow for play in position and red for never play then keeping this by my computer.

Reading several books, articles and forums, discussing hands, watching videos and of course playing further.
But the most improving is discussing hands and play with my husband.

Taking more time on my moves is something that has improved my play a lot. Sometimes we don't thinkm about all the angles when making a decision and that can lead to some seriously bad mistakes.

I would say the one thing that made me a better player is that I have more patience than what I use to have. I use to het impatient and hate folding alot of hands in cash/tournaments. I would get frustrated and call dumb raises and make myself look stupid. Also over the years studying pre flop raise charts and postflop charts has improved my game quite some bit. For some people it's mastering position bets and when and when not to call a huge raise. Depending on what you may have. It takes time to get really good at the game, but luck also takes it's part in it. And luck is something that comes and goes haha.

1. play at least 200.000 hands
2.analyze your game every day or once a week at least
3. find hands/situations, that brought you in trouble and do research on these specific situations (range cleaning/position)
4.play another 200.000 hands to attack your weaknesses:idea:

Relaxed

I think the thing that helps me the most is not feeling in a rush. Sometimes I want to play even though I don't really have time and end up rushing the game, which I think only worked once and I have done it hundreds of times. lol. When I have the time to play, then I play much better, with less risky methods. Just feeling relaxed. Thanks for the question.

Being disciplined about reviewing my play, even the bad sessions. For me at least its helped identify some of the mistakes I was making over and over again. After you beat yourself up enough you start to self-identify and correct getting in to the same questionable spots over and over again.

Well, I think it helped me a lot, watching valuable video tips from professional players, also watching poker for players on Tweets, but the truth is not enough, you need to learn more and more information, strategy, analyze your mistakes, and then it's all use in the game.
