When playing poker, there are several key aspects to pay attention to in order to make informed decisions and improve your overall performance. Here are important factors to consider:

  1. Starting Hands: Understand the strength of your starting hands. Learn the recommended starting hand ranges for different positions and adjust your play accordingly.
  2. Position: Position at the table is crucial. Being in a later position allows you to see the actions of opponents before making your decision. Adjust your strategy based on your position in the betting order.
  3. Opponents' Playing Styles: Pay attention to how your opponents play. Identify tight players, loose players, aggressive players, and passive players. Adjust your strategy based on their tendencies.
  4. Table Dynamics: Observe the overall dynamics of the table. Note if the table is playing aggressively or passively, and adjust your play accordingly. Be aware of changes in the dynamics as the game progresses.
  5. Betting Patterns: Look for patterns in your opponents' betting. Identify consistent bet sizes, timing tells, and any deviations from their typical behavior. Exploit these patterns to make better decisions.
  6. Community Cards: Stay aware of the community cards on the board. Understand how the flop, turn, and river cards can change the strength of your hand and impact the potential hands of your opponents.
  7. Pot Odds and Expected Value: Calculate pot odds to determine whether it's profitable to continue in a hand. Consider the expected value of your decisions based on the potential outcomes.
  8. Stack Sizes: Pay attention to the stack sizes of both yourself and your opponents. Adjust your bet sizes and strategies based on the amount of chips in play.
  9. Image at the Table: Be aware of your own table image. Consider whether opponents perceive you as tight, loose, aggressive, or passive. Use this information to your advantage.
  10. Emotional State: Monitor your own emotional state. Avoid playing on tilt (emotional frustration) and make decisions with a clear mind. Take breaks if needed.
  11. Table Chat: Pay attention to any information shared through table chat. While not always reliable, opponents may reveal insights about their hands or strategies.
  12. Game Flow: Understand the flow of the game. Recognize when the table is tightening up or loosening up. Adjust your strategy based on the current state of the game.
  13. Time Management: Manage your time wisely. Avoid rushing decisions and take the time needed to analyze situations, especially in critical moments.
  14. Player Tendencies: Continuously assess the tendencies of your opponents. Players may adjust their strategies based on their own experiences and observations.
  15. Your Position in Tournaments: In tournament play, be aware of your position concerning the blinds and antes. Adjust your strategy based on the stage of the tournament and your chip stack.
By paying attention to these aspects of the game, you can make more informed decisions and improve your overall performance in poker. Developing a keen observational skill set is crucial for success at the poker table.

The first thing any new poker player should learn is to never play with money you can't afford to lose. Never violate this rule.
Some other things:

-have fun

-you will lose, it happens

-you will lose hands you should have won

-you will win hands you should have lost

-you should always keep improving

-you can always play tighter

-play aggressively, if it's a hand worth playing most likely it's a hand worth raising. No one ever folded to a call.

He said it all. I just want to add: study. More you study the game, better you will play with time.

Pay attention to everything. Even people playing badly give you opportunities to learn (not imitate).

What I pay the most attention to at the table is the frequency with which each person bets and the amount of chips I have in terms of big blinds (BB).
The first point helps me know what to expect, whether they only play good cards or take chances to see what happens. The second one helps me see how much I can afford to play and how much I am willing to lose.

First, I recommend taking the 30 days CardsChat classes. Later, I don't know how much you currently know about poker, but I consider learning the pre-flop Call/Bet charts is very important to understand which range you should play and estimate your opponents' range. And, of course, playing a lot to gain experience and put the knowledge into practice is also very important.

I think, first of all, you should pay attention to the free course of CardsChat. This will be the most correct. In addition, please also pay attention to the conditions for obtaining silver and platinum levels of access to our freerolls. This is the main thing, and then, step by step, by playing freerolls, gain experience, improve your skills and increase your bankroll :)

Pay attention to position, the place in any given tournament, how the opponents are playing, be that loose or tight. Your stack size will set a lot of your plays. Try and keep concentration levels up also.

The most important thing is to always be careful whether you can play poker or something.
