how best to start your game?
I think that we should start with freerolls
and then move on to cash games

I'm not going to lie, it is hard trying to do this. I'm down 5 School Passes and I'm just trying to make it in the money so I can sit at a cash table. But I'm not going to let that stop me, after I get off work I'm going back to my grind.

When should I start using tracking tools like Poker Tracker and Hold'Em Manager? I'm currently playing on my laptop and I read reviews saying HM is system heavy. Like I said, I'm new to online poker, I used to play live at BestBet in Jacksonville, FL.
So any advice is helpful.
i dont play with a hud , its personal preference really. i would probably invest in a hud when i get to the point where im playing 8+ tables

Building a bankroll from 0 takes a LOT of patience even from the most expert players. It is far easyer to deposit say 50$ and see where you can get from there.

If you are a relatively unexperienced player like it sounds you are, you could take a little less ambitious aims and just have a practice. Set yourself a goal to learn poker x hours a week for example. This could perhaps give you better results than building a bankroll from 0 that is money-results driven and could lead to a failure.

Building from zero is a quite the task for sure. I have managed to accumulate a decent little bankroll from time to time, but it can be both time consuming and a real grind. My problem is that i tend to have less respect for $$ thats not mine and seem to always get back to "building from zero" ;)

I don't like failure, but you all are right and I'm going to sit this one out. I'm new to online poker so I should just work on my game and when I fully learn how to BRM I will give this another shot. Thank you all for your input.

The action plan is understandable, but raising your bankroll through freerolls is an extremely difficult task and you need to be patient and spend a lot of time, but it's possible 50/50 percent!

If you manage to build a bankroll from freerolls you're either very lucky, or very good at playing poker. I really hope you'll have enough patience to play enough to build a bankroll. This could mean a few hundred hours per month. Don't get discouraged if you won't win enough, stay concentrated; the experience that you get is far more valuable than the few cents for entering the bubble in a freeroll.

It is of course possible to build your bankroll from scratch, but it will take a long amount of time. But on the other hand, if it was easy, nobody would be making deposits.
The main point - how to build a small bankroll don't play poker roulette-type spin & go, beat the clock and the casino. In the future, need to learn to manage your bankroll.

I'm going to try and build my bankroll from nothing. I know many people have posted like this before, but this is MY journey and my progress. I recently won a part of the 50% share of The Deal for $13.79...... butttt I blow that playing like a fool at $10Nl knowing I had no place being there lol. So I'm back at the bottom again. I took The Poker School Courses and was rewarded with 32 School Pass tournament tickets. I'm going to use these tickets plus play in any freerolls I can to build up a sizeable bankroll.....hopefully, I'm still new to online poker but I hope to improve my game.
It's possible. You will need a lot of patience, aspiration, time and strong nerves in playing freerolls. Wish you good luck in your starting! Don't forget to wrote about successes:wink:

I am also building my bankroll, I have some tickets that I got at pokerstar's school, including I am now in a tournament. My mistake is not to be aggressive after the 4 or 5 blinds. But I think I'm going to improve with practice.

Go on man, GL. And a week later, how are you going? Do you have mini-goals, time-to-time goals or anything like that?

It will be difficult, you have to play freerolls in which a large field of players are not the best who play extremely inadequately and win a minimum of $ 0.01. So I can say it will be hard ...

Study, practice and play free tournaments, because they are a great alternative for those who don't own a bankroll.

I already saw professional players that started this way.

Hope i have helped.

This month starts new league system on pokerstars and i think it's easy way to practise and build a small bankroll. I consider my 1st deposit if I will qualify for next level league and then for the higher one.
There will be 4 league levels. 2 lower are free (you have to be pokerschool member) and for the 2 higher you have to make 1st deposit. If it's not a big deal for you to end tournament in 10-15% best players you should easily qualify for higher leagues. There are good payouts for top players. With 15-20 tournaments monthly you should reach it.

if you stick around, and contribute, you will get into the cardschat freeroll club......good for building a bankroll to get things started if your roll is non existent...

or you can deposit and stick to bankroll management.

Good luck mate....but I can tell you this, it is quite difficult on pokerstars to build the bankroll from zero... hope we can pull it off as I also am trying to do the same after I busted my bankroll:):)
