Hey everyone!
I used to play a lot of poker online about a decade ago, I was a winning 2NL player for about 6 months (I think something like 75,000 - 100,000 hands) but ended up leaving the game as I got busy with work and had to put all my time in. I've found myself back at the tables 10 years later wanting to get back into it all! I've played a little online and played live for the first time too, for some reason now that I've played live I really am not enjoying the online experience, there's something about live that's just unique and so entertaining.
So my question is what would you say is the advantages/disadvantages of learning the game playing live only without online play? There's the obvious differences such as more hands per hour online, easier games live etc... But I'm looking at this from a learning perspective.
I've been spending 4-6 hours per day reading books, using solvers etc... and I've been going to the local casino just once per week for a local tournament (for the gameplay experience), but nothing online!
Is my potential as a skilled poker player significantly lowered due to no online play? Or would you think this method of learning would be decent enough to get through?
Really interested to hear what you think, or maybe some of you are in a similar situation to myself!
