Do you happen to know what the newVPP and 5xVPP actually change from the standard tables? I noticed that my VPP's and FPP's seem to be adding up quickly, which is cool (though I'll be happier when PT3's fix for the HUD is available :( ).

5VPP's per dollar of rake divided by the number of players at the table with partial VPP's possible. It is a change that Stars is testing out at 6max and HU NL tables. Depending on how it goes, it could be implemented at all tables (including full ring) by 2010.

Basically, this change is HU > 6max > FR so this could kill off some of the full ring nit tables at the low stakes if it is fully implemented. It depends on the limit but it's generally +EV for 6max and HU while -EV for full ring. Due to the partial VPP part, this will make VPP's add up faster at the micro stakes because until now, the pot would rarely reach the amount necessary for the $.40 rake. However, at the low stakes, some calculations that people have done suggest that it may not be an improvement even for 6max players.

There is a pre-release beta fix for the PT3 HUD available for the new PS 5xVPP and newVPP tables, it's in the technical support forum on their website at the end of a thread about 5xVPP.

Boy it's nice to have a HUD again!!! I played about 4k hands without the HUD, which meant limiting my play to ABC poker more frequently than I would have liked.

On the other hand, I ran ok - 4.2BB/100... methinks I have some FPS issues... :D

Question RE: the new stars vpp tables...

Are the 2NL and 5NL 6max tables able to accumulate FPP's faster than before?
when I played 5NL 6max at stars it would take about 50 hands or so before you would earn one FPP. Im wondering if its a bit better now?

The actual numbers are very table dependent but you will generally see an improvement over before.

There were a ton of complaints about the - effects on FR and so Pstars is adjusting it so that FR is not hurt, but 6-max and HU will be improved.

This still may or may not be fully implemented. For now, it will not be implemented on FR tables so as to not upset the SNE pursuers and it's more in a trial phase than anything. This does not mean that it will be implemented for HU and 6max only while not being implemented for FR in the long run.

I like the float on this dry board. Position is power!

Also curious as to why you're 3-betting pf. If you have a read that villian folds to 3-bet a high percentage of the time this is fine, but I'd most likely just fold this pf.

I have a good amount of hands on him. He has a 83.33% fold to 3-bet. So I was really just trying to take down this pot pre-flop.

When He called I put him on AK/AA/KK. He admitted to having AK pre-flop.

bluffing didn't even cross my mind until he checked the flop (which baffles me). He put me on 3 of a kind jacks.

83.33% on a good sample. Thought if he calls then at worst I can stack him if I hit a 4.

Went on a +16BI run over 6700 hands, 12BB/100 - immediately followed by today's -8BI session over 1000 hands. Didn't change anything in my play, I don't think - not seeing bad plays in that session where I lost a stack (one is marginal, two half BI hands are also questionable).

As c9 says, embrace the variance - most of my big hands held up during the upswing, and several big hands didn't during the downswing.

Still running ok in July, but 7.3BB/100 when I woke up was a lot nicer to look at than 2.6BB/100 that's on my screen now. :D

Have you downloaded the latest patch and then restarted both HEM and the poker client? That's generally the quick fix to HEM not finding tables.

When you've made more money at HU Sngs so far this month than you have playing 5nl is it time to switch to HU Sngs??? lol

I've played 5 x $5.25 HU Sngs.... and won them all for a net profit of $23.75.... and i've played approx 1500 hands of 5nl so far this month and i'm up $13.45.

I know they're teeny samples and winnings winning after all but i'm confused about whether im playing the right game lol.
