Plenty

I have lost my bankroll three or four times over the last 30 years of poker.

I've only ever "lost" my bankroll when I've risked playing tournaments with freeroll winnings. In my opinion that hardly counts but whatever. Honestly I think the most effective part of my game is BRM. Its nice to be ok at poker but BRM is what is really going to get you past the storm of variance that inevitably comes with enough play.

I want to give you some advice before losing your bankroll .. try to build it from scratch ... I mean build it playing freeroll ... in my case I have lost it many times ... and when I lose my bankroll I submit to return to build it playing the freeroll ...!

I just don't have the patience to grind through freerolls.

How many times have you lost your bankroll and how much did you lose?

If you don't completely lose my bankroll anymore, consider a time where you significantly lose a good portion of your bankroll the same as losing your bankroll entirely (enough that you significantly re-evaluate your bankroll and reduce your buy-ins accordingly).

The add-on question is: what type of games do you play after you have had a cool-off and come back to it?

Hello Dawn!

I do not know how much I've lost my bankroll, but it's certainly very common! When I deposited with poker stars I lost my bankroll several times a month! Since then I have not deposited anywhere now!

I've lost all my money in no limits and limits Hold'em .

I have been fortunate enough to have never lost my bankroll when playing poker because I exercise good bankroll management with my tourney and sitngo buyins. Sadly I have taken my bankroll from the poker client over to the online casino and lost it there a few times. I'm trying to stick to poker because my degening has cost me quite a bit!

Perhaps I had loose my entire BR at least 7 to 8 times, and have to omit - all of them built by freeeroll earnings and further real money games.
Each time I was between 20 and 100 USD bankroll, but poor BR management took off all of these :(

3 times. I hope I will make next one by freerolls. When I collect 70 dollars than I will start to play in cash this is my plan.

In order to lose your bankroll, a lot of mind is not necessary! But to save a bankroll and multiply it you have to learn a lot! This forum is an excellent school for many novice poker players!

I was loosing it several times at the beginning, terrible. I just knew nothing about brm. It was like lotto for me, lol. But since around 8-9 years I am playing in plus.
After the period of losses, I started freerolling and doing some brm.

BRM = Bank Roll Management
Your bank roll is the total amount of money you have available for playing poker.
Depending the type of game (tournament, cash) and payout structure, there is a limit to how much you can spend on a buy-in (buy in = the amount of money you have to pay to register for the game).
Example:
If your bank roll = 100$, then it is not smart to play a tournament with a buy-in of 25$ with 10% of the registrants getting paid.
Typical numbers:
max buy in for multi table tournament is < 1 % of bank roll
max buy in for cash game is < 10% of bank roll
p.s. every player will use different numbers as max buy-in.
