1/2NL.
Let's say UTG bets $5.
He gets a bunch of callers.
Let's say 5 callers.
Pot is now $30.

Hero is OTB.
Let's say he wants to steal.
If he raises to $10, he will get a lot of callers, since it's just another $5.
But, if he raises to $30, many will fold.
Maybe even everyone, and now hero just won $30.
Or, if only one caller, now there's a $85 pot with only $30 of Hero's money.
Getting 2:1 against head's up.

What are the general rules for this type of play?
Is this called 3-betting preflop?
This seems like it can be a good way to get uncontested money.

Any general rules for this type of play?

It seems better to do when there has already been a raise,
b/c there is a lot more money in the pot already.
Doesn't have the same effect is there are a bunch of $2 limps in the pot.

Yea, so you just need to bet enough to make them fold.
Clearly, $12 won't be enough.
In a 5 man hand, you're saying bet 1.5x the total in the pot so far.

In a classic 3 man squeeze play, what are the rules of thumb?
P1 bets $6. P2 calls.
$12 in pot.
How much should Hero bet to put on a squeeze?
1.5x again? Bet $18?
This is also 3x the call amount.

These ratios will stay constant?
Let's try $10 bet. 1 caller. ($20 in pot)
1.5x the pot would be a $30 bet. Same as 3x the call amount.

So, in a 3 man squeeze, just triple the call amount as your raise?
