Usually poker funds do this; they enter into contracts with ordinary players and they try to bring profit to both themselves and the fund.

There are opportunities in "Staking" other players, but my question is Why would you want to? playing Poker is what I want to do, Taking part and feeling the excitement in every game I play, Trying to out-think your opponents, and getting the Adrenalin rush from an all-in situation.
Staking another player, you might as well go bet on a football game or Horse race.
There was a local game that came up and the buy-in for it was a little expensive for my bankroll, but I was considering entering the game, When a couple of my Friends asked if I was going to enter, and I said I was thinking about it, but when they suggested Staking me in the game I said "Definitely not!".
I was not afraid of losing my money, but if I had been staked by them, I would not have felt happy losing theirs. So rather than risk their money I didn't play at all.
Playing with money that you cannot afford to lose, (scared money) is a sure way to get beaten, because it is always in the back of your mind that you should not be doing this.

are there people who hire poker players to make money for them?
Yes, I saw this in one of the casinos, and this is not an illegal thing. Anyone can pay you the participation fees, whether in a tournament or cash games, but the return is sharing the profits between you, and the loss goes to the person who financed you:)
