c u @ the table and lucky hands till then :p because now i am pissed and i want MY LUCK so no more place for yours xD

I'm a pro (doesn't mean I'm good hahaha).

I study every day, I play almost every day.
And I consider poker my job.
So, since poker is my profession, I think I'm a professional. hahahaha
Although it seems strange to me, because I started studying/playing with professional ambition in November or December.

Semi professional

I've been trying to make a living from poker for two years but I still can't do it, so I consider myself a semi-professional poker player but I still have a lot to improve

"Knowing how to win the most with the best hand; and lose the least with the worst"

Recreational are the players who give me money and I seem to take more than I give (in poker, that is) and professional would be a truly arrogant adjective to associate with my current status. So, if possible I will go with something in between. Say, a dedicated student who hasn't submitted his dissertation yet, but working hard towards that bachelor's degree.

I've been a poker professional for over a decade. Last year was the first time I got a part time job due to just being burnt out on the grind despite coming off of my best 2 years ever. Now I deal part time as a dealer at a major casino on the strip and I am enjoying poker a lot more than when I was doing it only for income. It's a very difficult career path if you're not at the top of your game. If I had to redo it all over, I would want to have a regular career while aggressively pursuing poker on the side as a hobby. Poker as a main profession is extremely stressful and an unbalanced lifestyle.

No, I only play for the fun of it. Even when I lost lots of money in the past, I still kept playing because Poker is so enjoyable to me.
I never dreamed of becoming a pro and thereby entrusting my livelihood to a card game; for me that would turn a once entertaining hobby into a loathsome job.

Recreational, playing for the competition and tor the fun of it.
As in every game, it is important to win, but also to learn from defeats.

I hate to be a recreational at this game, I don't know why and thought people too.
I mean everyone wishes if they could improve and make a lot better results in poker, and if you did improve yourself you'll be considered a pro or a semi-pro not a recreational.
The poll really did show huge difference between recs and pros for 400+ voters.

I have setup an anonymous poll ITT. The poll is setup to see what percentage of the CC community is playing poker as a recreational, semi-pro, pro player, or working towards making poker a full time career. I'm the first to say that I'm a recreational player that's doing this for fun. I'm grateful to have a place like CC where I can learn from a lot of great players. Even us Rec players have something to offer to the game :)

Feel free to drop some knowledge ITT if you are a semi-pro, pro, or transitioning into poker as a career.
I'm already a multi-millionaire, though not as much as I was before Covid, recession and drop in stocks. I got it the old-fashioned way, married into it. I'm not saying it to brag, but I'm only mentioning it to explain I don't need the money. I played poker professionally back in the 1980s at brick-and-mortar casinos and private (some seedy) games all over the country, back when it was thought derogatorily of you regardless of how much you won. I was called a degenerate a good many times. Wow, have times changes. Even with the stigma lifted, I don't care to ever go back to that lifestyle.

Today I play poker on-line for the challenge, to prove to myself I can still come out ahead even though I'm well past my prime. I might have lost $400,000 in the market so far this year, but I'm up several thousand in poker, and that delights me.

I'm a recreational player, I'm not interested in being a professional, having fun playing poker is fine.

Nevertheless, I will refer myself to amateurs. Not everyone can be a professional, amateurs are also needed. 😁

In transition, between recreational to semi-professional. And thanks to CC, because it can be an important tool for this task.
