I’m an amateur but I do make constant money at my casino when I play. But unfortunately online I don’t play as well; maybe it’s because it doesn’t seem real to me

Purely Recreational!
Poker is a fun game and I love the action, winning or losing money never enters my head, it is only being part of something and playing my best that is of any interest to me, When I was younger I took part in many sports because I could, and I was always watching my favorite sports on T.V.
Today the most strenuous activity, I can be involved with is Poker, at 66 I am too old to play Football or Rugby and because of that I don't watch it any more, because I have no interest in the games.
Poker is fun to play and only a hobby, I will never get rich from it, but I can still play as long as I have a Laptop and Internet access, and that is all I ask for. :)

When the fun Stops, STOP!

I'll consider myself recreational at this point till I master the art of taking a profit and leaving if the cards start turning or being more patient i think this just a couple signs of a professional player always playing to win never for fun as i tend to have to much fun at times i can't find the exit despite being up a ton

So far, for me, poker is just a hobby, a warm-up for the brain. Quite often I win prizes in freerolls and micro MTTs. But maybe later, when I have more free time, I will allocate it to poker, increase my bankroll and start playing MTT more regularly, so that I can get not only pleasure from it, but also some kind of move.

I call myself a "play chip professional". :D

Yes, its partly because I'm trying to be funny... but there's also a serious side to my statement.

America's government banned us from playing on poker stars real money games a decade ago, April 15, 2011... eventually, years later, we were allowed back onto the site, but ONLY to use the play chip side.

So my statement is also a criticism of this ridiculous taking away of our rights and our freedoms... I probably WOULD be classified as a professional for tax purposes since I don't have another job and poker would be my sole source of income (which is how a "Professional Poker Player" qualifies as such under IRS tax code here in America - if you have a "real day job" you cannot claim the status of "professional" and it costs you quite a bit in taxes since amateur players don't get the good tax benefits that professionals do)... but since we're still banned, I poke fun at the absurdity of it all by using my funny phrase.

I hope people laugh at my joke, but I also hope it makes the government realize what a ridiculous thing they have done (of course it won't, they are completely dense and deaf to the cries for relief from US poker players) and realize how much tax revenue they have cost themselves with their stupidity of banning us. I play the highest play chips stakes on Poker Stars, I have won over 100 BILLION chips on the play money side... (it would cost me approximately $15,000 if I had bought them instead of winning them) so my words are not just idle chatter. They've cost themselves (and me of course) a pretty penny over the past decade.

I am definitely not a professional. For me, poker is just great fun, nothing more. I have pretty good results and from time to time poker brings me some money.

I play recreational right now, I am looking forward to one day going pro. Right now kids are young so money, needs to go on kids. Once they older then I may have, a chance to do what I would like to do. Once you have a family and kids are young, your priorities are them. Once they are adults or move out , them you can pursue your dreams is how I look at it. Cause they are looking after, themselves as adults.

I am a rec. player I don't know if I will ever be good enough to go pro. I would love to but I don't have the resources to make it happen.

I started believing that it was regular, but the more I study and perfect myself I realize how much of a beginner I am and that you realize that poker is not just a card game played by people but that in reality on many occasions the cards are side and you only play with people, a few months ago I began to take it seriously that is when I began to understand concepts such as daw sing, up swing, variance among others. But I think that to take the next step I must invest more money, that is where forums like CC are the best places to learn and in the process earn a little money, that is why I am very happy to be part of this community. Today I maintain my position that I am a regular player, hoping to professionalize myself.

100% a recreational player.

I get annoyed enough taking beats in freerolls and micro tournaments. Props to the people who can do it for a living and not go insane.

I am purely a recreational poker player and I am completely ok with that and really have no desire to even become semi-pro or pro. Poker is my hobby and something I do for fun, I'd hate the added pressure of playing professionally and with my anxiety no matter how much I tried to tell myself it didn't matter, I'd be stressing out the entire time.
