Sorry guys but I have to say I'm rooting for a underdog. I rather see a amateur win the main event. Don't you think that someone like Darvin Moon winning the main event would be better for online poker, which is down in the number of players lately. Poker needs a boost and I think if an unknown wins, it would attract the players who stopped playing online back to the game.

I want Phil Ivey to win more than I, well... I don't know, but i want him to win alot.

He's a 6:1 dog from the chip leader and a 4:1 dog from 2nd so if he doubles up twice he would be 2nd in chips..

I would say he was a sure bet to win it if his chips weren't so low. Still hope he does though.

No, I don't. Cause Darvin Moon doesn't play online poker and qualified for the ME through a satellite at a casino in West Virginia.

There were two aspects that caused the Moneymaker Effect. First was he was an amateur knocking off all those big name pros with bluffs and whatnot. And second was that he qualified online through Stars for $40.

Plus Moon is from the backwoods of Maryland and has already stated he doesn't care about the publicity or promoting poker. The guy is about as entertaining as the logs that he cuts for a living.

Bookmakers give 150:1 to Ivey. And he is a favorit.

Where'd you get this stat from?

Darvin Moon (58,983,000 chips) 3.50
Eric Buchman (34,800,000 chips) 5.00
Steven Begleiter (29,885,000 chips) 6.50
Phil Ivey (9,765,000 chips) 7.00
Jeff Shulman (19,580,000 chips) 8.00
Joseph Cada (13,215,000 chips) 13.00
Kevin Schaffel (12,390,000 chips) 13.00
James Akenhead (6,800,000 chips) 17.00
Antoine Saout (9,500,000 chips) 19.00

They're the odds taken from Ladbrokes.com about 10 mins ago.

I'd throw money n bookmakers just for those odds. 150:1 is insane for one of the best playeres in the world to beat 8 others starting with 40bb's

I have to agree with the OP but I'd love to see Schulman win just for the bracelet in garbage.
and wow. 150:1????? Heading there now those are amazing odds.

Has Ivey never taken down the main event? Seems like he's just been around forever, cant believe he's not won it before. Anyone know how many bracelets he holds? Won a couple this series hasn't he? Lowball or stud or some such. lol
Can't beleive hes not won the main event before??? Like its a damn walk in the park if youre a pro???
Phil Ivey is my second favorite poker player besides myself so I would love to see him pull off a near miracle.

Yeah i think you guys are vastly underestimating how difficult it is to win the main event--especially with the huge field at this point. There are many great players who have never even gotten close to winning the big one. This might be Ivy's best shot ever--I hope he takes it down.

I personally don't think Phil Ivey will win as he is one of the smaller stacks. However, if he does win he will go down in history as one of the best players ever.

I don't understand why anyone would want to see some no talent player win. I mean great they "won the lottery"--I'd much rather have it proven that you can win with skill. I mean after all--aren't we all aspiring to reach that level of skill? I have no interest in human interest stories--they can stay on lifetime.

I have to disagree with saying it's "a walk in the park" for pros to win the ME. They are far outnumbered in this event by "amatures" and online pros who are not as well known.

And 150:1 odds?? Am I right that a small $20 bet would bring home $3K?
