I like how OP asks people not to put in their 2¢ about weather or not he should teach his kid poker or not, but you judgemental know it all still feel the need too
Anyways, as of what to teach him, well OP are you a good poker player? If not then maybe you shouldn't teach him anything except the very basics, if you are a winning player then teach him to play like you play.
I think it's a great idea to teach him poker, I learned card games at a very young age and I have barely had to work a "real" job my whole life. I'm 40 now with house can and all that shit.
If I didn't learn card games so young I would probably have a degree but no job to go with it and working for a bum paycheck every week at a warehouse or some shit
