I think online is better for progressing. ...
My biggest difference I find is the fact you need to be so careful of talking/body language. You may not know the micro tellos you have, HOWEVER players who have played a lot will pick up on them fast.

I believe that the physical presence and the blinds are what impact the most.

The main advantage of online poker is that I can play multiple tables at the same time and I will find a table to play at any time of the day.
I agree with you, I'm only interested in playing live with friends or family, and playing live in a different way, I think it's pretty boring.

The biggest difference is that you cannot see the gestures of the other players, that is something that can give you a great advantage.

the difference between online and real poker is that you don't always have information about the type of player in front of us, there are times when real poker will never change fashion because it is one of the most incredible games in the world, from my point of view we have that online gaming helps everyone to play poker

the difference is that live you can curse the dealer when he sends you so badly and not online!

I will give you just a couple of differences, of course there are many more, because this topic deserves a separate article.
So, online poker is much faster than live poker.
I think offline poker makes it easier to learn your opponents.
In live poker a big role is played by psychology, i.e. you have to be able to read your opponent by "tells" (gestures), and try not to out yourself.

It's all about one's perception of convenience, imo. If you like being able to play poker at any time or place then online is preferred. If you like to play poker and take your winnings home upon leaving the card-table then a cardroom/poker lounge is the way to go.

The main difference is...
Online poker is played mostly on your home computer (but can also be played on a cellphone or tablet)
Live poker is played in person.

Number One: Volume. Live, you can only play one game at a time. Online, Much more. I've played up to 8 games, but some people can play many many more than that. As a result, you can make money even playing low stakes.

Number two: Online, people have more stats on you. They have HUDs, access to services like sharkscope. Some people will run ICMizer on a separate machine whilst they play (not advisable). Live, the only info is what you have in front of you.

Number three: Slow play, when live, is intolerable. I will purposely go straight at someone to knock them out if they are playing slowly for no good reason. At least with online, I'll just open up another table or two if things are slow.

Number four: Online you can find any game at any stake and there will be people willing to take your money/give you money. Live, the pickings are pretty slim...unless you live in a casino town like Vegas, Atlantic City, etc.

Number Five: I've never been mugged on my way home after an online win.

Personally, I think there are far better players online than live...but my sample size is quite small.

Let's see, 5% instead of 10% rakes. Not having to tip a dealer. It all adds up and is taken out of profit margin, if any. Basically, because of this when you lose you lose a little less, and when you win you win a little more. Tells are also different. No visual cues online. Mostly determining each individual player's aggressiveness level, propensity to bluff, and starter hands.
