If you like to play freerolls in addition to ring games donks are a part of it. I won a seat at UB,s weekly game off a freeroll game a couple of weeks ago and had a guy go all in the second hand. He had lost about half his chips the first hand. I had pock kings so I called him. Player after me went all in . i had to call again. The guy after me turned over 6 7 off. He made a boat. I couldn't believe it but it's part of freerolls.

I agree with vollycat. Ok people say I'm a donk because I call on suited 78 89 910 after the flop and I get an opened ended st or fl draw. I dont always do that just when i feel lucky. I mean i have been beaten so much by bad cards or players Its made me a loose player at times. well good luck with figureing out how to handles the donks.

I agree with Raines42. There is too much easy money at the tables. All these bad player keep boosting our overall profit and it just isn't fair.

We have to adjust our play slightly and endure some small term losses for a significantly greater ROI, and I just can't take it any more.

Yeah there seem to be a lot of them who try to just get lucky at first - if one is at your table just be patient let them make a ton of mistakes later on - tahts when you can get a lot of easy money off them........be patient -let them do their thing then shut them out....its easy to identify a donk and its even easieer to take them down

I am sick of the donkeys that play online poker.... you find donkeys in live poker as well, but not as many. Maybe the bad beats are just getting to me, but bad beats happen soooo much more often in online poker then live.

People will argue that it only seems that way because of the amount of hands you see online as opposed to live... this is true, but I think it is because you get 3 idiots to call your all in with nothing in one hand while online. When playing live poker 9/10 times there will only be one caller and you have better odds of avoiding that suck out that knocks you out.

lol move up to where they respect your raises? How about you jump into some 200nl FR. Trust me I WISH I had your problem. Oh no AA all-in and 3 callers, how will I ever win money????

donks will never go away, we hope.

I have noticed that I take bad beats a lot easier live then online. Anyone else have that experience?

It's probably because when you're live you can ask a person what they were thinking, why they played the hand the way they did...a lot more chatter and openness. Online, nobody talks. And when you finally type something into the chatbox you might sound pissed and that usually gets everybody else going. It's like the silent treatment, you wanna know, but your opponents won't give you anything. Almost torturous. And you can only assume.

I read an article comparing Hold Em players to Stud players (casino live play). The writer made an observation that, the Hold Em players were all silent, grumpy-like compared to the Stud players who were always talking and laughing. I guess there's too much thinking involved in HoldEm (more silent, lass talk, alot of thinking) to bother being friendly. Whereas in Stud you see your opponents cards and thinking isn't as imperative, time for more chatter, and friendliness :D I love playing Stud.

jolubman,I agree with your post suggesting that low limit games do draw the donkeys. The problem is some of these donkeys have more money than brains and are still around for the $50 -$100 games too. Maybe this also goes on in the higher priced games as well, can't say for sure because that's really not where I venture into with online poker.

Guaranteed though, $10 and less will see at least one or more of them at the tables. The lower you go the more they seem to be.

I agree freerolls do have alot of donkeys hoever even in higher buy in tourneys its often donkeys with money. same ears and tail. If it looks like a donkey, smells like a donkey and plays like a donkey. Its probably a donkey!

I was playing in a live tournament yesterday, and a person at my table called three different all-ins with 8-7 off-suit. He made a straight to win the hand. Last Saturday at the same poker room, I pushed all-in with A-K on top of five limpers, and one of the limpers called with J-3 offsuit. (He didn't win.) If you're at a table anywhere, for any stakes, there's probably a donkey or two there.

I have noticed that I take bad beats a lot easier live then online. Anyone else have that experience?

Oh yeah... I get pissed off and yell at things in my house when I get donked off... Maybe it's because you see the person face to face, kind of like the whol talking crap via blogs syndrome

ya know what you mean. I hate getting 3 callers when i have the best hand preflop. Even if i might lose 1 buyin 40% of the time Ill still win 3 buyins 60% of the time. Rough life.

while playing online poker you are always going to have that idiot who is gonna call anything with anything even 27 off suit so you have to learn how to play with donks so if you feel they are busting you everytime maybe you might not want to push in so often wait til you have a hand and the flop matches so you know you cant lose before you push all in
