I am sick of the donkeys that play online poker.... you find donkeys in live poker as well, but not as many. Maybe the bad beats are just getting to me, but bad beats happen soooo much more often in online poker then live.

People will argue that it only seems that way because of the amount of hands you see online as opposed to live... this is true, but I think it is because you get 3 idiots to call your all in with nothing in one hand while online. When playing live poker 9/10 times there will only be one caller and you have better odds of avoiding that suck out that knocks you out.

This is true, online poker does seem to generate many more bad beats. And it is tough when the odds say that the better hand wins most of the time, but when there is more than one donkey in the hand, there are many more ways you can lose...

Another factor, a huge one, is the amount you're playing for. When you play live it is always much higher than the buy-ins on-line. Lower buy-ins means more donkeys.

I think you have to really look at what you are saying here. I understand your position, but do you hear what you are saying?

"I am tired of being surrounded by terrible players. I need to get into a game where the players are better so I can actually win some money."

Yes, I understand the frustration of bad beats and extra people in a hand that should have long ago folded. But you really need to exploit that problem instead of complaining about it. Therefore, that means your game needs to improve. I wish I had all the answers for you on doing that, but alas I do not.

But I do know this--your ability to control a pot with multiple palyers, and know when to lay down a hand needs to improve. Exploit the bad players. Sure, you're going to lose a coin flip, or even a heavy favored hand. But the desire to have better players at your table is a very silly concept that I hear all the time.

And when you figure out how to get their money, share it with me because I need help at it as well.

Cheers

jolubman,I agree with your post suggesting that low limit games do draw the donkeys. The problem is some of these donkeys have more money than brains and are still around for the $50 -$100 games too. Maybe this also goes on in the higher priced games as well, can't say for sure because that's really not where I venture into with online poker.

Guaranteed though, $10 and less will see at least one or more of them at the tables. The lower you go the more they seem to be.

I was playing in a live tournament yesterday, and a person at my table called three different all-ins with 8-7 off-suit. He made a straight to win the hand. Last Saturday at the same poker room, I pushed all-in with A-K on top of five limpers, and one of the limpers called with J-3 offsuit. (He didn't win.) If you're at a table anywhere, for any stakes, there's probably a donkey or two there.

I have noticed that I take bad beats a lot easier live then online. Anyone else have that experience?

Donks

Unfortunatley there are way too many donks playing online poker. I don't know if they're just not good, don't care or have the money to throw away. Big money tourneys are the best way to stay away from as many donks as possible!

Many young are learning to play poker yet, so the times we have an AA, and then comes 3 donks against you, and there is hard win, because if any of them will close 2 pairs maybe, or something. But they learn over time. At the beginning of tournaments freerolls see much that happens, but then normalizes.

Agreed

I hate some of the call i see, whether it be while im in a hand or not. But I've came to understand that they mostly happen in free rolls and that attitude of 'nothing to lose' is taken. Its fair i suppose, and one can play any cards they like and lose their stack any way they want But we dont see it in cash games as much, or in buy in tourneys. I must admit ive been involved in hands i shouldnt have and sucked out too, so i guess its all part of poker, and all part of learning. Im getting better at putting the bad hands down now though..lol

In low limit games you get multiple callers and it is more likely that 1 will suckout. It is difficult to swallow some of the beats. I'm beginning to think it is impossible to win consistently at low limits online.

I agree with you man. Live tournament, there are much less donkey because you don't want to embarrassed yourself, but online they cannot see you, so they make outrageous play.

I agree, a bunch of the people that play don't seem to know what they're doing, call with nothing and end up sucking out. It's frustrating when you are playing seriously.

As narizblanco also said, one donk is bad enough, but playing solid hands against multiple donks is a real pain. One will often suckout. That being said, remember what jaymfc said, it's the donks who keep the money flowing to the winners. Your poker winnings come from the mistakes made by other players. Since donks make more mistakes than good players, in theory the more donks the better. However, that also means more bad beats. But, over the LONG RUN, they will lose and good players will win., It's just a matter of gritting your teeth and avoiding going on tilt until the LONG RUN probabilities kick in. That's easier said than done, but the laws of probability dictate that it can't work any other way.

I made the same experience often enough.

Or maybe I'm just playing even worse than those donks.

mmmm

No I don't think so cause I'm still ITM, lol.

The proliferation of poker on TV has brought more donks into the game. These people see how some players play on TV and think it is skill. I sit with a table full of donks in my home games. It can be frustrating but with patience they can be overcome.

I am sick of the "All-in" all the time players. The ones that only know how to play a hand by either folding or going all in. In my opinion that's bad poker and they are "donks" 'cause all they trying to do is double up on an easy game. it's borring and terribly annoying. Good thing however is - these kind of players never stay around for long :)
